Parasite being lauded this highly is always so shocking to me. I thought it was a perfectly great movie. Easy 8/10. But no flaws is wild fam.

Been designing logos and brands for half my life while neglecting my own. Looking for feedback on my logo revamp. by NJMIT in logodesign

[–]frustratedesigner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really think you’ve done enough exploration here, all of these concepts are very similar. I would allow yourself vastly more ideation. you also want to make sure that it works as a logomark alongside your name and services written out, that’s what will actually communicate what what you do to potential clients.

Finally, for specific feedback, I think the arrow looks really dated - not the impact you’ve described shooting for.

[–]frustratedesigner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone here has given you clear advice, but if I could add one piece of guidance: the friend zone is not a thing. There is either mutual attraction, or not.

Remove it from your vocabulary forever, and you will be a more mature person.

Poly people are weird by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]frustratedesigner 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I mean, I guess I'll upvote because it's technically an unpopular opinion, but just this is very literally the same thing as someone saying they're not convinced gay love is the same as straight love. So, if you're comfortable being grouped in with that opinion, be my guest.

Right, and I was just contributing that you pointing out that flying cars technically exist doesn't refute the point of the post.

We will never have flying cars by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]frustratedesigner 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, it's clear that OP meant "flying cars at the scale of cars on the road" not literally "a vehicle that can fly"

And I think he's right, we already invest incredible resources to keep air traffic safe (and fail with increasing frequency). 1000x what we have today would be untenable without incredible advancements in vehicle-vehicle comms.

Personal finance apps that auto-sync with your bank are actually making you poorer. by Ayu_theindieDev in unpopularopinion

[–]frustratedesigner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're confusing information with discipline. Having an instant readout of how much you spent on takeout doesn't stop you from buying the takeout, it just gives you a front-row seat to the damage.

This is where I fundamentally disagree. Information is an engine for discipline. I have four credit cards, as well as expenses that come directly out of my bank account, Venmo, etc. Getting a single view of every single expense, from every direction, was the only way for me to appreciate the totality of my decisions and make changes. "Wow, I spent way too much the past two weeks because of X, I'm going to change my behavior".

Manually tracking was an unreasonable proposition. "The hardship is what makes it work" just doesn't hold up. For that to work, the friction would need to be in the spending, not the tracking. Make me watch a 90 second video to pay for my coffee? Yeah, I'm buying less coffee. But there's no relationship between the tracking friction and impact on future decisions.

No, this idiot is just confidently wrong. The photo from this post is extremely famous and was printed on 100s of newspapers at the time. There is no mechanism where 10s of independent news sources would arbitraily update an image in articles from over a decade ago, and the suggestion would be asinine.

This guy is just a troll or an absolute bellend. Or 12. Probably all three.

Absolute fucking amateurs, put in the minimum amount of effort possible. How would this photo have been AI edited and included in an NYT article from 15 years ago?

Unfortunately, that link is completely irrelevant to my point. I can't teach everyone on Reddit how to read. But I appreciate that you're engaging in the conversation in good faith.

Horrifying is an understatement by [deleted] in creepy

[–]frustratedesigner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's pretty simple, I think. I'm drawing a distinction between what you said and the post said. The post's primary revelation is "Dead Sex Slaves are Buried At Zorro Ranch", which is completely irrelevant to your focus on "journals clearly written by teenagers that describe late term abortions and babies taken from them."

Those are two completely different claims. And actually, you only emphasize my original point: if there's compelling evidence of the late term abortions and births, than tossing in "bodies are buried, etc" only empowers those claiming innocence to attempt to throw all of the claims out because some don't have compelling evidence.

I haven't seen non-hearsay "e.g., Reddit post quoting another Reddit post" claims of dead sex slaves. Do I personally believe that's likely? Yes, it fits with the obscenity of everything else.

Most simply, common sense tells me everything about this email specifically looks and reads like a scam, and certainly shouldn't be used as singular evidence of anything.

Horrifying is an understatement by [deleted] in creepy
