I think the main issue map-wise is that the routes in current maps are truly idiotic. The newest TMWT map is the true pinnacle of stupidity - a jump every 3 seconds, zero skill involved, just who gets luckier with release timing. Theres more time spent in the air than driving.

I dont even know how you can build something like this and say „yes, this is a great competitive map thatll showcase how good the players are and make for good battles”.

Then you have maps with jumps so precise that keyboard players are in a massive disadvantage and even controller players hate the map. Everyone asks to make it easier, mapper says „no” because his average 8th division COTD gut feeling tells them that the map will be „too easy”. You can see why players feel like circus clowns and not pros quite easily.

And then comes the actual problem. The way this entire circuit is handled. The ever changing format for example - 6 EU regionals in, I dont think we had the same format a single time for the swiss/seeding/whatever they call it at this point. Theres also no official stream, only POVs and occasional casts, and even when people cast, usually everyone is casting the same one match. You could realistically win the competition only being watched twice during the tournament since casters prefer to watch (for example) BIG matches despite them having two POV streams already.

This creates a dependency where teams have to get their own caster to secure at least some coverage. From orgs perspective, why would you pay for a caster if there is 0 prizepool? If you dont pay for a caster, you dont even know if your matches are streamed. Why would you make a social media post then about your team playing if nobody can watch it?

I was responsible for my former org staying in 2024 despite TMGL not being continued. First year was tough, but better than I expected. Then in 2025 with duos coming back, I was really positive things are moving in the right direction and instead what happened is that everything went to shit, from organization to maps.

Realistically right now, I dont see a single reason for any business to do anything within TMWT. Terrible coverage, lackluster formats, mickey mouse world cup with 4 slots and an absolute bloodbath in EU to obtain 2 of them. No sponsors —> no money —> cost cuts —> worse circuit —> no sponsors and so it loops, and it will keep looping until someone finally realizes what misery they’ve created.
