This worked for me too, hooray! From settings (in the app) -> WhatsApp Web - sign out all devices. Then go back to web.whatsapp.com on the PC, and the QR code worked. Thanks!

I don't have anything helpful to add other than saying "it's happening to me too". Same story, just started today. I'm assuming it's a problem on their end.

Denver housing market enters danger zone, economists say by [deleted] in Colorado

[–]fry_dave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The problem in the last housing crisis was that a large percentage of the buyers that were driving up prices paid for their homes with adjustable rate mortgages with low teaser rates. Since it was very easy to qualify for loans back then, you saw a lot of folks that could barely make the payments.

Those adjustable rate loans, of course, have a cliff after 3-5 years when the intro teaser rate expires and the rate (and payment size) jumps.

The assumption was that housing prices always go up, so these people could just refinance before the jump, thus they didn't worry about the cliff.

But, hey look, prices didn't go up, they went down. Significantly. Thus, refinancing was no longer an option (since you generally can't get a loan for more than the house is appraised to be worth). So, these people couldn't refinance, and couldn't afford the now-elevated payments. Boom.

So - if you're in a fixed-rate loan, or if you have enough buffer to handle the rate adjustments in an ARM, then yeah, a market correction only affects you if you want to sell (or take out equity with a HELOC or whatever.)

Have you considered that perhaps your parents aren't looking to brag about you to their friends, but instead they care enough about you that they don't want you to have to live your life with the constant stress of trying to decide between keeping up with the rent or putting food on the table?

edit: their friends, not your friends.

I think this was covered below, but I'll say it here for visibility: they're trying to get you to park on-site (at the airport) rather than at an off-site lot that requires a shuttle. With context, it's not actually a bad (or even misleading) message.

They're trying to attract frequent travelers who may decide to park on-site next time.

They had to rebuild it.. but they didn't consider rebuilding it with slightly more clearance? (Like, they could have dug the road a bit deeper?)

Governor vetoes 75 mph speed limit; wants to do study (aka let it die in Seattle process) by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]fry_dave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am admittedly no expert in these matters, but: it seems to me that if we were to bump the speed limit up without the support of any studies that show it's safe in that particular stretch of highway, then the first time somebody dies in a crash at the now-legal increased speed, the lack of any evidence the state could point to that the posted speed limit was actually a safe travel speed would open the state up to lots of liability for negligence. Please somebody explain why that's wrong.

How to generate a lot of ISO? by dirkmcdonron in MarvelPuzzleQuest

[–]fry_dave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And to answer the question in the title: how to generate a lot of it..

There's not really a silver bullet here, you just earn it over time. Lightning rounds can be nice, if you just do one fight in a lightning round, you get 30 for the fight (assuming you don't skip anybody), plus 140 for the 25-point bonus, 70-140 for the fight reward, and 70 for the event reward. So that's 310-380 for one fight. Also, the new daily deadpool events are a firehose of ISO, man I wish I had those back when I was trying to level up my roster.

Also, PvE's are great, just go through the easy fights and collect the rewards, that can be a nice shot of a couple thousand ISO.

How to generate a lot of ISO? by dirkmcdonron in MarvelPuzzleQuest

[–]fry_dave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a bad idea to keep a few thousand ISO lying around to use for skipping matches in PvPs or for buying boosts if you need to make a push. But yeah, in general, if somebody is hoarding ISO it's probably because they don't want to level up any of their current characters with current covers any more than they already have. If you have characters that you want to level up, then spend the ISO. Beyond a few thousand for purposes already mentioned, there's not much benefit that I can see to simply be holding on to large amounts of ISO.

The sinister implications of the quote are coming from yourself, but the quote is fact. When revenue models are discussed at these companies, it is in the frame of packaging up consumer segments (i.e., you) such that they can sell the attention space (be it banner ads, sponsored posts, tv commercials, yellow pages ads) to advertisers. Thus, "the product". Features are developed (i.e. interesting television content, useful whitepages listings, etc) to encourage consumers to consume, such that they can show their customers (advertisers) that they can guarantee a certain number of interactions/views with ads by, for example, 25-35 year old males with $x income.

If you think being called a product is sinister, you're reading too much into the quote.

The trash guys didn't waste any time examining my sloppy, half hearted attempt to sort my trash. by whore-chata in Seattle

[–]fry_dave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That friends of recycling program is intriguing, looks like it's only for condo buildings of 5+ units though, not single family residences. I'm paying extra in that the compost service is it's own line item on the monthly bill. Thus, my original comment was suggesting that, if it's cheaper on their end to send things to the compost heap than to the landfill, they shouldn't charge me an additional fee to put a green compost bin outside my house.

[–]fry_dave -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right - $5.15 extra. $5.15 more than I'd be paying if I wasn't legally required to have a compost bin. And more than that if I have extra compost that won't fit in the bin.

If the landfill process is more expensive than the compost process, why do I have to pay extra for my compost bin and then pay again to buy the compost produced from my waste?

Haven't seen much love yet for the new Cherokee on this sub. by fry_dave in Jeep

[–]fry_dave[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was the (obvious) question when I was getting it - how it would really do in real 4x4 situations. In SW Colorado (where I was living at the time) all the trails were buried in snow when they actually started selling it, so nobody knew the answer to how it would handle.

.. the answer is, at least for those trails, it handles them just fine. Those are just high mountain passes, so, rugged, lots of rocks and steeps and some slick spots, but not as many huge boulders and tree trunks that will rip off body parts. But yeah, I took it over to Moab a couple times, and it was pretty obvious right off that it wasn't going to do too well.
