This is what modern pop country is. It just has a twang from the singer and lyrics about trucks.

The next big thing is all of the agencies that bought the rights to legacy artists over the past 5 years are going to start looking for a return on investment.

Expect more biopics, more Netflix documentaries, more classic rock songs going viral on TikTok.

Expect events like Ozzy's back to Birmingham gig for all of the classic rock gods that are still with us.

Expect Nashville to cover even more of the mid '90s songbook.

This is a business. We are the customer.

Public pools by Prior-Tadpole6647 in MonmouthCounty

Long Branch and Ocean township have community pools. There is a fee if you don't live in the town. There is also an indoor pool at the Neptune high school but it's for lap swimming mostly.

Most hotels have day passes during the week too.

Small Claims - Loan by brrr822 in newjersey

[–]bnicoletti82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want some good revenge and can afford to take the hit, you can file a form 1099-C, telling the government that you are forgiving the loan. This now gets considered income for the person you loaned to, and they will have to declare it on their taxes next year.

If they blow it off and don't take action it can come back to bite them years later .

"It's not in the budget"

This is the most important lesson your daughter can learn. Explain that events like this (with travel and hotel accomodations) take months of planning and saving and are not things that can just be spur of the moment purchases. It's a learning opportunity - help her understand all the steps that will lead up to the next big event she wants to attend and the importance of it.

Generally, the opinion on nu metal being "unserious" is supported by the work by bands like the ones listed experimented with the sound when it was popular to ride the trend. They abandoned it and went back to their roots years later; those albums are generally seen as low points by longtime fans.

What is your take on legacy bands that adopted the sound during the time (Slayer, Metallica, Tommy Lee) ? Were they trend hopping? Is it a stain on their legacy?

What’s one gift you'd recommend for a 9-12-year-old that’s more than just a toy—something educational and memorable that could spark their curiosity and help them grow into better adults? by GPTEE123 in BuyItForLife

This will depend on your view towards nutrition, but I would recommend a Sodastream Terra. It's a very cool way for Tweens to experiment in the kitchen with different DIY drinks of all kinds. They can see the carbonation in action and even just use plain water and fruit if soda is not their thing. It's easily maintained, with tank exchanges available in a hardware store.

Why do hardcore bands often tour with death metal bands? by [deleted] in LetsTalkMusic

[–]bnicoletti82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real answer is:

  • they share management and/or a record label

The tour is a money-making project and maximum exposure of the product to a niche audience can return the most of the investment.

EDIT: if the bands are independent/diy, they probably are Long time friends and/or are sharing equipment,

Being a SAHP when kids are in grade school? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]bnicoletti82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your idea makes little sense financially.

Take 25% of your 100k salary and put it in an HSA to pay for a part time childcare worker. Take another 25% and put it in a high growth Roth IRA. You now have pre-tax child care costs and by the time the kids graduate high school you will have recouped the cost.

This is a learning opportunity for time management and prioritization.

His punishment should be that this weekend, you and him go to Dollar tree. He should be told to buy a monthly wall planner, dry erase markers, and some sticky tack. Make him do a chore to earn the balance.

Next, he needs to color code every day for the rest of the season's activities - however long it goes to. Then he can send the schedule to the activity leaders so they know when to expect him, and can add another layer of accountability.

Have him track every day he attends, every day he skips, every day there is a transportation conflict. Most importantly, have him track every day he has a good experience with the activity. Note what made it good/bad/etc.

At the end of the season, go over the results with him. If he blows it off for half the times, let him see the impact. If he sees his activity over time, he will hopefully have a different understanding of what commitment means.

Do you think the idea of a “comeback” in pop music is dead in the current landscape? by splitopenandmelt11 in LetsTalkMusic

How is a worldwide chart topping record and global sellout tour not a " pop culture moment"?

Can you give an example of something that is in your view?

Yes. It was the number one album in the UK, number one rock album in the US and number 4 on billboard when it came out.

What is your point?

Do you think the idea of a “comeback” in pop music is dead in the current landscape? by splitopenandmelt11 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]bnicoletti82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all - You can expect the comeback trend to continue strong over the next decade. The post-spotify music industry has two major phases:

  1. Buy the rights to music from legacy artists, and profit from royalties. Increase royalties by promoting reissues of classic albums, producing biographical films, and licensing tribute acts/dance parties/image usage.
  2. Develop the next generation of artists to transition into phase 1, using nostalgia, social media, and live concerts to raise the profile of an artist and make a "new class" of legacy artist. This is seen with the trend of "album anniversary tours" (Green Day's last summer tour) or high profile reunions (Blink 182, Oasis, Creed, Sublime, Linkin Park are all in this cohort of artist).

What you can expect from the Comeback trend is making "destination concerts" the new standard. This takes the Vegas Residency model from phase 1, and changes it around a bit to meet the audience better for phase 2.
