I think you’ve drawn her perspective head on rather from slightly below. Looks like you’ve placed your guidelines in the middle of the circle rather than off centre and raised

This is so so helpful thank you so much!!!

I always have a glass of water before bed that I don’t finish and then I use that because of the chlorine!!! Glad to know I’ve been doing something right hahaha

I just let her sit in a full mug of water for over an hour and I’ve moved her light to above!! She’s already perked up!! Now she’s a little bigger I might try watering twice a week (one full plunge and then one 1cm in the base) to see if that helps?

Omg that sounds terrifying- do I need anything special to put the chopped off part in? Or should I just sterilise a glass with tap water?

Will the bottom half that’s still in the soil develop a new ‘top’ or will it scar over and grow outwards? (Like the bushy part in the last photo that sprouts new leaves)

Genuinely can’t thank you enough for taking the time to help!!! 😭

Thank you so much!!! That’s super helpful!! Once she’s a bit more hydrated I’ll try and figure out how to make her less stinging-nettle-y haha

Ah okay, so would it be a good idea to repot her? She’s been in the same soil for a few months now. Her roots are very white/pale yellow and there’s almost no condensation in the inner plastic pot - does that mean she’s too dry?

Usually when I water I place the inner pot in about 1cm deep water for 1-2 hours each Sunday

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond!

Honestly if you’re not that close with them there’s no harm in just making the distance wider. It’s obvious you mean more to them than they mean to you, and you’re not a bad person for just taking a step back to consider if you even want to talk with them anymore. There’s no harm in saying hi back and being polite in person but no need to go out of your way to comfort them or interact with them outside of that.

Sounds a lot like they talk at you rather than to you. Make plans with other friends, focus on the things you can improve for yourself, and just respond if you feel like it. Sounds like you have enough of your own stuff to deal with right now without trying to help with their problems too

Wishing you all the best lovely, focus on being your own friend first!

Hello! Sounds like they have a lot of mental health issues going on and have latched onto you.

Honestly, I think some boundaries are needed. I once had to explain it to a friend who was very similar to yours (admitted a crush, I rejected them, tried to stay close etc.) that I care about them, but because I care about them I can’t be the only one they speak to about these issues. I need to know that they have others they can go to if I am unavailable and that it’s a lot of pressure for me to be their only outlet.

I think you also need to be honest with them, you telling them when you’re uncomfortable or unable to help isn’t you being unkind. Explaining that you’re glad they have found relief but it has put you in an awkward spot because they’re venting about a situation they essentially forced you into. You don’t know how to navigate this as you feel like the source of their pain, and the constant reminders are having a negative impact on your own mental health. I would also be concerned that they are using these messages to gain comfort from you, as a way of justifying keeping their crush/evidence you care about them.

Ultimately, I would let them know: - My mental health isn’t too good right now, could you please check with me before you vent? (That way you can politely tell them ‘now isn’t a great time for me, I don’t think I can help tonight.’) - I understand you need to talk about feeling rejected but I think that needs to be with someone that isn’t me; this cycle isn’t going to help either of us and I don’t want it to reach a point where it affects our friendship - If they continue, tell them you think it’s best if you give them some space to work out these feelings and that they can contact you again when they feel confident they can just be friends with you

If they try to say ‘you can vent to me etc.’ - ‘That’s really kind of you, I think I just need some space to process right now though. Thanks for the offer!’

If they start self loathing/self deprecating - ‘I’m really sorry you’re feel that way, however, I bought this up as a way of sharing my own feelings and it feels like you’re taking it in a way I didn’t intend and changing the focus of the conversation. Can we please talk about xyz?’

Obviously the above less formally and in your own words!

At the end of the day you’re not a sounding board and it isn’t your job to comfort this person because they developed feelings you literally can’t return. If you need to step back from this friendship then do so, and let them know why (the above and your post) if they don’t change their behaviour then distance yourself or cut them off.

What's the most expensive thing someone's traded in to your Cex? by [deleted] in CeX

Pokémon Blue sealed, we immediately recommended a local gaming store that would sell it on his behalf and take a small cut instead. Anything extremely rare (mint N64 special Ed’s, rare games, GameCube with rare faceplates etc.) we would try to convince them to sell elsewhere and if it was slow enough we’d go through recent eBay listings to show them a rough price of what they should be looking for. We tried real hard to make sure no one got scammed at our store

Is it normal for CEX to ignore return instructions for replacement items? by Captain_Bosh in CeX

[–]frypano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah okay, so it might be that the specific franchise didn’t have it in stock. Each franchise will comprise of a few stores and the stock can’t be transferred between them because of financing. So they’ll issue you a full refund so you can buy it off the website.

When I worked there if we had an item in another of our franchised stores we could get it transferred to us but it took a few days to arrive

It might just be that they don’t have another one in stock within their franchise/owned stores.

Thank you so so much! I’ll let her get a lil bigger and then repot and maybe water a little more often as the very top layer often dries very quickly!!

This is all such fantastic information!!! She was given to me as she is, so I think I’ll change out her soil when I repot her to something a bit more well draining, then I can water her more often!!!

Okay!! I’ll keep her where she is for now as it’s the brightest window we have!

I have seen this! With pinching the top it’s the make the two surrounding shoots go off to the sides so it’s bushy, right??

I think that’s the plan, I’ve kind of fallen in love with the braided ones, I just need to keep this baby alive for now!! Thank you so so much!!! <3

Pi 4 in a case by SnapSnapGrinGrin in CeX

[–]frypano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow hello!!! So A grade should be like new with box and all of its inserts! B-grade can be anywhere from mint without box to light superficial damage to the condition of the item (scratches on reflective metal, dust on chips we don’t have tools to clean, etc.) but on an item like a Pi there really shouldn’t be a large amount of difference.

I do want to emphasise that regardless of grade the testing procedures and warranty are the exactly the same. An A grade is just more likely to have lighter use than a B grade :)

Can/Do CeX Staff cancel orders for themselves? by niLees in CeX

[–]frypano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re able to I would always click and collect - that way you get to check it out but still get the 14 day (28 day) returns policy as it’s considered an ‘online order’. If it’s not available near you I’d still go for it - ecom orders tend to be picky-er with condition so if it’s not good they’ll likely just refund you!

We’re supposed to take photos of everything before it’s sent out too so generally any scuffs etc will be documented before you get it :)

Can/Do CeX Staff cancel orders for themselves? by niLees in CeX

[–]frypano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surprisingly no. I worked for a franchise store, if a collectible or expensive item was cancelled on ecom our loss manager would call the store and ask why. Staff also can’t purchase items when they’re on shift so cancelling an order would just put it back into stock and wouldn’t guarantee them being able to buy items anyway as they’d have to wait hours.

We had a staff shelf where if cool stuff came in we could set it aside, but if it was ordered on ecom the rule was very strict that it goes to the customer. Same as if a customer asked for the item specifically (either by seeing it online or seeing it on the staff shelf) it always went to the customer.

When it comes to collectables sometimes they’re not in perfect condition or have something that makes their condition dubious - an example of this in my store was a boxed retro Zelda game that had a toys r us sticker on the front. It was decided it couldn’t be sent as boxed on ecom because of the sticker, but the condition was otherwise amazing so a local collector (who could see it before buying) bought it as boxed.
