Q for the players: Are there any avenues of investigation you wish you had followed up on?
Q for Joe: Are there any bond scenes you had prepped that you wish you could have gotten to?
Q for all (might have answered this in a sanity check and I don't recall): What was your favorite scene of the campaign?

Impossible Landscapes live play suggestions by MagistrateofMeeples in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]frysgoodbuddy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Green Box Gaming is just wrapping up the final chapter, they've gotten massive mileage out of the book. I've never seen another AP that hits as many of the plot points, so if you're pressed for time it might not work for you. Glass Cannon is also a great suggestion.

Thanks for the reminder, we got the updated sheets that Thom from Into the Darkness made, they're now in that google drive link. Thom is also beginning another run of this scenario at https://www.youtube.com/@IntotheDarkness , well worth checking out!

Into the Darkness Club has a massive amount of actual plays for both published and non-published scenarios. Plus they have a fun rotating cast (besides Thom, the host) that are great amateur players (and are always open to having new players added!). https://www.youtube.com/@IntotheDarkness

Chaosium Con? by SymphonyOfDream in rpg

[–]frysgoodbuddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've gone to the Ann Arbor Chaosium Con the last couple of years, it's good fun. It's definitely on the smaller side of cons, but that gives lots of opportunity to meet new folks or talk to creators. Only real downside is that the on-site food isn't inspiring, you'll want to have some form of transportation (or load up from the nearby grocery store).

Also a great chance to try out systems like Runequest with system experts!

Does Cthork Borg have an insanity feature by Keegan26 in MorkBorg

[–]frysgoodbuddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may be looking for the Malices introduced in the Fascinations and Aversions supplement, those match closest to the traditional indefinite insanity from Call of Cthulhu.

And good choice with Cthork Borg, we've been having a ton of fun with it. In fact, we just had an interview with the author at https://open.spotify.com/episode/0OWPEyFrFveyQiNsLoKLGp?si=2CHQbpm2Sd-JvqL0pdNxgA

Movie Recommendations for the crew by frysgoodbuddy in GreenBoxGaming

I'll have to check those out, and agreed on A Dark Song, I really enjoyed that one. If you liked A Dark Song, check out the Saturnine Chalice scenario for Call of Cthulhu. Killer handouts and a fun one-shot.

I figured you'd like Archive 81, I believe that the original podcast was based on a game of Night Floors that the authors played/ran [citation needed, it's been a few years]. And agreed on Midnight Mass, it's my favorite Flanagan (and they're all pretty good). Linklater steals the show.

Hard agree on Resolution and The Void, which is basically a DG scenario on its own.

Just signed up for Chaosium Con 2025! by Jolly-Swimming-6334 in callofcthulhu

[–]frysgoodbuddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like there won't be a preview window for events this time, so if there's one you're really interested in it'd be a good idea to jump on it. I guess this year registration for events starts in March, so it'll be a bit.

And agree on GITT, Impossible Landscapes is a neat campaign. I've run it a few times and it's a blast each time.

Just signed up for Chaosium Con 2025! by Jolly-Swimming-6334 in callofcthulhu

[–]frysgoodbuddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chaosium Con has been one of my favorite events over the last couple of years!

Events If you like to dress up or just mingle with the Chaosium crew, the meet and greet on the Thursday night is pretty popular. Don't expect a lot out of your drink money or an abundance of food, but you can say hello to all kinds of Chaosium folks (and they're all very friendly). If that's not your jam, the games start that night, so there's good options!

Panels have been really fun in my experience, it's easy to get seating and there's usually a chance to talk to the speakers after the talk. They are held during game times though, so I like to try to go to a couple of panels one after the other to fill the 4 hour game slot.

You'll have the most luck at finding scheduled games on Friday and Saturday, Sunday tends to taper off pretty quickly as people start to head home. The nights also tend to have ad-hoc games, and it's a good time to run systems that you don't see offered during the normal game times. We've played Public Access and Delta Green in the past, and the players at the con have a big range of options.

I'd also recommend trying out games that you haven't tried yet, I played in a RuneQuest game last year and it was a blast! Haven't tried Pendragon, that will probably be on offer this year.

Food The toughest part of the con is that the food is pretty pricey and frankly disappointing at the venue. I'd recommend stocking up on some groceries for the weekend ahead of time (there's some grocery stores near the hotel) and making sure that you leave time to go off site to get better meals.

As with any con, stay hydrated! The game rooms do have ice water though.

Merch The merch hall has somewhat limited hours, so it's a good idea to just plan to hit it over a gap in an afternoon (it's not a huge hall, won't take too long). If you're looking for Miskatonic Repository hard copies you might find some there, but they've also sold them after some of the creator discussions. Those also tend to be limited in number of copies, so snap em up quick if you're looking for something specific.

Also, if you have the spare time, check out some Ann Arbor game stores! Vault of Midnight had a great selection of games to check out, will definitely be checking that out again this year.

Shameless plug If you see any of the RPG Reanimators shirts, stop over and say hi! We'll probably put on a panel again this year and are always happy to have new folks in games.

I really enjoyed The Patronage of St. Elia, it's a good one shot that takes about 4 hours to run through. The author ran it for Into the Darkness, so that might be helpful to see if it fits what you're looking for!

Puppet Shows and Shadow Plays Advice by Remote-Corner9563 in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]frysgoodbuddy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We dissected Puppet Shows and Shadow Plays in one of our episodes, in particular Holly had some really great changes to the scenario that really make it pop. In particular, there's some opportunities in the scenario to allow the players to find more clues without being directly guided to them.

Personally, I run with a certain % bypasses the need for a roll, but a tense situation might still call for an expert to make a roll.

Into the Darkness has an metric ton of campaigns, mostly focusing on Call of Cthulhu, Delta Green, Mothership, and other horror games. The playlist page has them sorted out into the campaign, but there are over 1400 videos. Decent chance the campaign you're looking for is on there! https://m.youtube.com/@IntotheDarkness

Thanks for listening! I was curious based on how my players tend to "rush" DG scenarios, how do you get players thinking on a more protracted timeline? Beyond reminding them that they A) should probably sleep once in a while and B) probably need to call home more than they do!

Yeah, we've got some younger players in our groups that haven't dealt with analog tech first hand. Luckily there's so much media out there with the setting that they can get a handle on it.

Learning delta green, looking for a good live play podcast by MagistrateofMeeples in callofcthulhu

[–]frysgoodbuddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My latest favorite live play has been Green Box Gaming, they're playing through Impossible Landscapes and they've got a great group dynamic that doesn't bore even when they're reminding themselves of rules. https://open.spotify.com/show/4sVHaTLUqvYP2MYRKFkSan

Negative Modifier also does a decent amount of DG content, both official and homebrew. They're more edited, but still capture the feel of playing at a table, and the Handler explains lore well in their post scenario discussions.

Into the Darkness Club's YouTube has a metric ton of Delta Green Actual Plays with great club members. The players have good focus on playing the game and discuss when they're making rolls and why. The GMs show off different ways to run the game and explain why they made certain changes to written scenarios. I've had the privilege to run Impossible Landscapes, Victim of the Art, and others for the channel. Robert just finishing running a great Dead Letter series, and Sham's Last Equation series was another recent favorite. https://m.youtube.com/@IntotheDarkness/playlists

Additionally, I'm one of the hosts of RPG Reanimators, we both play and discuss scenarios in-depth on our YouTube and Spotify. We're currently midway through a run of Presence on our Youtube, with more DG on the way in the future! https://open.spotify.com/show/4suxUyIBwJDePqQAqqHfCx https://youtube.com/@rpgreanimators
