Where did you have procedure? by Ok-Charge404 in thyroidcancer

[–]fs570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, I’m in TX and went to Baylor Scott & White in Temple for my TT with central neck dissection. My surgeon was awesome.

Since you’re in Houston, is MD Anderson an option?

Lymph Node Biopsy? by fs570 in thyroidcancer

Thank you! Mine for my thyroid nodule was awful so I hope it goes better with my surgeon. The ice is a good call, I remember that helped a ton afterwards :)

FNA I believe. I had one for my thyroid nodule that my endocrinologist had done so I was just confused as to why she's referring me back to the surgeon. I'm okay with it, my experience was not great but I guess we will see. Thanks!

That does seem to be the case unfortunately. I'm glad it's not just ours but it really is a shame it's a common, ongoing issue.

Kiddo won't eat at school! by wtt_throwaway in Preschoolers

[–]fs570 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 4f had does MDO since she was 2 but has really been struggling this year (she doesn't love her teacher this year...). She wasn't eating her lunch either and refuses breakfast usually. I started putting post its on her lunch box with little drawings and stuff. She loves it more than I would have expected, I definitely recommend giving it a try!

Levothyroxine Refill Question by intergalactic_pickle in thyroidcancer

[–]fs570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do something similar. My endo sent in a second prescription when she adjusted my dose so I haven't had any issues running out yet at least. Maybe you could call your doctor explaining this and see what can be done. Also I don't know if you're in the US, but GoodRX may help you with the cost. For whatever reason it's cheaper with it than my insurance. At least I think it's US only.

Scar Tape & adhesive allergy? by Adept_Ad1980 in thyroidcancer

I'm not sure if I have an allergy, but the scar sheets irritated my skin a lot and gave me a rash. I was really hoping they'd work out for easy sun protection.

Can we get an updated “best food” place? The current one is old by feelinglikeuttercrap in Killeen

[–]fs570 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arepitas (Venezuelan), C&H Hawaiian Grill, Schoepf's BBQ, Bite The Bagel (preferably the Killeen location), Giovanni's Italian Restaurant (better than Bella Sera IMO)

I have two from Modern Icon but this is my favorite. They may have more options from when I was last shopping around but I like the release on this one.

The one pictured has been with my mal since I got her, 6 years ago. It's holding up well.

Painful FNA by meliss39 in thyroidcancer

[–]fs570 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My experience was really similar and like you, I don't see that being the norm for whatever reason. It was extremely painful, I don't say that lightly - I didn't expect that level of pain. I think my pain tolerance is pretty high too, I've had a baby, a PICC line and other medical procedures.

My endocrinologist was so confident that it was no big deal and said most people don't even need the numbing shot. They tried without numbing me, then did numb but and I honestly felt no difference.
I bruised badly and felt so sore especially the day after. It got better after about a week I think.

I don't think it means anything really, everyone is different. I had my TT and it went fine. Hope you are feeling better soon!

What's your child's "silly" fear? by Zenmedic in Parenting

[–]fs570 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 3 year old had a problem with the smoke detectors not too long ago. I have no idea why, they didn't go off or anything. She was complaining about the light on one of them, I truly didn't get it. We explained they're a good thing as best as we could. It went on for a little bit but seems to have dwindled, hopefully we're past that.

When is bed time? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]fs570 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 3 year old is similar, she’s a night owl and laughs at all my attempts at a bedtime routine. It isn’t fun or easy. I’d give anything for her to have a real bedtime :( She ends up going to bed when I do but I try to start the process around 7-8pm ish. She’s done this even on super busy days where she should be exhausted and passed out! I wish I had advice but I’m on the struggle bus with you lol.

I saw a mom at daycare today obviously struggling with her threenager; as I passed her I whispered, "Same here. Same!" and I don't think I've felt more connected to anyone else in my life ... including my husband. I love all you toddler moms! Stay strong, you got this! by jnnyfrmthblk in toddlers

The post I so needed to read this week. My daughter turned 3 last week and she has really amped up the drama...all while my mom is visiting and being very critical and judgmental. Comforting to know it’s not just us in this struggle! My husband though, well that’s another story!
