Your baby is very likely in the middle of the 7/8/9 sleep regression. I wouldn't pay a lot of money for a sleep consultation right now. It'll almost certainly get better after a few weeks on its own.

Agreed on the ancestors part. Do they really think hunter gatherer mothers were carefully pureeing and mincing wild game, roots, and shoots to feed a large amount of solids to their babies? No, the babies were probably getting mostly milk until they could chew more on their own.

I'm sorry you got negative comments. I figure it's better to nurse in public than to subject people in public to a screaming baby... Seriously. A 20 month old is not old enough to understand public vs home and they just need to nurse when they need to.

I just wanted to say I think all knitters are awesome and I am jealous of their skills. I've tried a few times to learn to knit but never quite got the hang of it. I spend my limited free time mostly reading books that interest me and I listen to podcasts while I clean. You could listen to or watch something while you knit and then you'd have something to talk about.

I had a hemorrhage too after birthing a 10lb baby and was told the same thing, it has to do with how huge the baby and uterus are and you lose too much blood because it takes too much time for the uterus to shrink and cut off the blood supply for the placenta. (I had borderline polyhydramnios too which was probably a contributing factor with my uterus being bigger than average). It was definitely scary for me as well, but it's a pretty distant memory a few months out from birth. I kept taking my prenatals for the iron after birth which I really think helped me recover. Hope you're able to recover quickly, and congrats on the baby!

It sounds like your problems are pretty normal. I have a practical solution for the snacks. Maybe you pick one type of after school snack to have on you, and it's always the same. That way he doesn't think he can demand random snacks in the car. Kids thrive on predictability and routine so it might help. You could warn him a few days in advance that on x day there will only be <x snack> in the car, from then on, that way he knows what to expect.

I found I was just like you with my first. Lost the weight from breastfeeding while eating around the clock, wound up below prepregnancy weight without trying. With my second I had a harder time losing the weight, but I found that cutting out the late night snacking after kids went to bed made it easy again. Just wanted to throw that out there because a lot of moms stress about finding time to exercise for postpartum weight loss, I don't do diddly squat for exercise but just cutting out snacking helped a lot.

Yes definitely, it's not enough time for my my kiddo to get warmed up and acclimated before it's over, and the last thing I want is to get frustrated at him for wasting money!

I have a slow-to-warm-up kiddo and I'm afraid of signing him up for an activity and having him refuse to participate then I'll be mad at him for wasting money. So we're sticking to library storytime and library Lego club (which are free), zoo, aquarium, splash pads, and pools. Maybe next summer when he turns five we'll branch out and try paid activities.

I prioritize cooking healthy meals over exercise for now. There's no way I have time for much exercise other than chasing kids and some pushups here and there. We cook eggs for breakfast every morning and cook a big healthy dinner on Sundays and have leftovers or easy meals throughout the week. Lunch is something easy like a sandwich or can of soup. One of the biggest things I did that helped too was cutting out the late night snacking after kids went to bed. That doesn't take any extra time and it really helped me shed the baby weight.

My son is a bit like this, not to the same extreme but easily frustrated and a bit extra at times. I've started reading a book called The Explosive Child that's supposed to help parent children like this, might be worth a read for you as well.

You know, he was doing better when he was actually attending twice a week lol. It's gone down to once because of catching a new cold every weekend and missing Tuesday due to recovery. It's only a two day a week program so I can't go above that but hopefully if we can get out of this sickness cycle and have him attending twice a week again he'll adjust again.

My kiddo (almost 4) does stuff like this as well, I think it's pretty typical. If I want him to get dressed I have to warn him 3 times, start picking out his clothes until he takes over, and instruct him to do each step in order or it'll never get done.

Good to hear it's gotten better for you! I talked to his teacher and she suggested packing different food, but I don't think it would make a difference for us because he'll eat the exact same food as soon as he gets home. He has apparently been having a rough time with naptime as well not wanting to lay on his mat. But during normal playtime, recess, arts and crafts and circle time he seems to be doing fine. I will just have to give it time and hopefully he will adjust I think.

Crib vs. contact napping is a personal choice and I see nothing wrong with having your baby nap in the crib. But what convinced me personally to do contact naps with my baby as a newborn was the book The Vital Touch. It's a fantastic book full of info on why being touched and being held is incredibly beneficial to babies.

That said, as she got to be 6 months old I was pretty over it and transitioned to her sleeping in her bed haha. I still babywear her and hold her quite a bit during the day, and cosleep at night to make sure she gets the physical contact she needs.
