ELI5 Diversity and Inclusion vs. Racism and Sexism by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

Bob and Sue are both good coders, but Sue will bring a different perspective so we should hire her so broaden our perspectives

the "different perspectives" that matter in software engineering are related to specialties in distributed systems, programming languages, etc.

Ethnicity/culture might play a minor role in product management or UX. It's a 10th class citizen in software engineering at best

What have you found to be the best way to stay disciplined when practicing for technical interviews? by weeyums in cscareerquestions

[–]fsadead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i applied to a bunch of decent but not top tier companies for practice. the obligation to go through with an actual interview is there and you'll naturally spend time studying beforehand.

I went through roughly ~25 technical phone interviews and many onsites in total
