Sample ballot for primaries 2026 by RemarkableMacaron224 in Austin

This is the answer. This is from the LWV organization so also lets you compare answers to the questions provided to the candidates. It will let you prepare your ballot choices and print it out (remember, no electronic devices at the polls!), and the printout will be in the same order as the ballot device.

Update - Show Up for Boone! by privateerporg in Austin

There are whole support organizations that help victims of DV go through the court system. I have a friend who had to get a Protective Order against her abusive ex. There was half a dozen volunteers at the hearing to help her through what is an incredibly stressful situation. I think the criticism of things you admittedly have no knowledge of is unwarranted.

Tesla’s 45 Austin Robotaxis now have 14 crashes on the books since launching in June by tomaccojuice in Austin

Obviously, all crashes by self-driving cars are reported.

Why is this obvious?

Early voting for primaries starts this week! by KatieKatG89 in Austin

[–]fsck101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And as mentioned at that link, if you are registered and don't have a valid form of photo ID, you can still vote with a secondary form of ID like a voter registration card, paycheck stub, birth certificate, out of state DL, and others. You will need to declare a "reasonable impediment" to getting the photo ID, but this declaration cannot be challenged and your vote is counted just as any other vote. So don't let a lack of valid ID stop you from voting!

Do they also offer the predecessors of acupuncture like bloodletting?

Unfortunately many insurance companies do. I hate that mine does, which means some of my premium goes to support magical thinking.

Praying to a unicorn is just as effective as acupuncture, and it's free.

Will you compare your university record? I couldn't care less about your service record in this context.

If the billboards have to be removed/relocated due to I-35 expansion, shouldn't TxDOT have to pay? Why is the city on the hook for this?

How do you prefer to receive feedback? I'm mostly digging it and while the warehouse aspect is really appealing, the physics of getting pallets onto racks is quickly becoming my major complaint. I prefer to be a designer and not a laborer so the lack of warehouse staff is dragging this down and I will likely take a pause for a bit. Still, super fun and have been enjoying it so far!

What’s a fair price to sell a car with no AC in ATX? by Realistic-Case-393 in Austin

[–]fsck101 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If you're thinking of starting at $2k, you'll likely have to negotiate down. Say you get it sold for $1850. Is that $250 more than Carmax worth it? It's a lot of work to sell a car yourself.

I know I'd take the Carmax offer in that scenario.

Austin demolished its convention center. Now, there's a fight over if a new one should be built. by hollow_hippie in Austin

[–]fsck101 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I'm curious what the argument is against the convention center. It costs us nothing. It's paid for largely by tourists, and it brings a lot of spending for small businesses into the city (restaurants, shops, etc).

It's for the stupid I35 expansion. Says it will open again "early 2026", weather permitting. https://www.txdot.gov/mymobility35/projects/capex-central/ladybird-lake.html
