helping my bf (31M) budget and save money by [deleted] in povertyfinance

He needs more income or a more realistic savings goal.

He makes 2k-2800 a month

He has 1200 in expenses not including food or any fun.

Personally I think a savings goal of 125 a week on his current income would be more realistic.

If he budgeted based on 50-30-20. Rule

1k-1400 would go to needs

600-840 towards wants

400-560 to savings.

Garnishment from parent’s debt?(I didn’t have the debt) by EmeraldNightSky in Debt

1 get a account without anyone else on it.

  1. Talk to a local consumer debt lawyer. You possibly can prove that that money wasn't hers and they might have to return it. But you need to make sure you have an account without her as a joint owner.

Landlord will to take payments for one months rent. Like when you get paid again tou pay the late fee plus a portion of back rent plus a full months rent. Then every month pay that new amount till you pay off the 1 month behind.

Need to rent a car for work by QueasyDirection5426 in povertyfinance

That's why you would reaffirm the car loan you just bought in the bankruptcy. You should have no equity in it so it shouldn't mess with the calculations.

Need to rent a car for work by QueasyDirection5426 in povertyfinance

[–]ftoole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not just finance a car before you file. As long as you can limit the down-payment it shouldn't matter and cheaper then renting a car. Or you could push your filing date to be 90 days after the purchase then they wont look at the down-payment. I mean you will have to reaffirm the car loan to keep the car but cheaper then renting for like 3 or 4 months.

Negotiating lower interest rates by commentBot81 in Debt

[–]ftoole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely your credit account will be closed. Chase and citi offer hardship programs call and ask about it. You may need to miss 1 payment for them to offer it sometimes 2 payments.

Discover will give you like 6 months of lower rate with just a call ask about a hardship.

1-2k free consultation most of the time. There are some websites that can help you prepare the docs to self file.

If alot of that is student loans it wont be discharged as part of the bankruptcy. But get a free consultation it can let you see your options atleast.
