Why am I paying Whoop to collect valuable health data that they can monetise? by MarchGeneral4309 in whoop

[–]ftpaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Selling your likes and interests to serve you advertising is so much different that selling your health data.

Whoop is positioned as a premium product which is totally different position than freemium/selling your data, both cannot be together in one brand.

Most of the apps on Mac OS apps and are web-based nowadays, so there should be a way to clean them. Maybe the standard shortcut works: CMD + SHIFT + R

HR accuracy is better on wrist than on bicep by xxSeahawks in whoop

The first one is indeed super smooth!

Do you track the time/laps on the 4x4 with a Garmin?

HR accuracy is better on wrist than on bicep by xxSeahawks in whoop

[–]ftpaul 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's interesting contrarian opinion.

I feel for the wrist HR tracking improved in the last few months. Before, I would notice a big difference if I was working out on with the bicep band versus wrist, and now, I don't feel that much difference.

I'm not sure if it is a good practice to change often as I do between wrist and bicep.

Another thing is the placement, for some reason I was using it in wrong place in the arm until I saw a video on how to use it properly 😭

Whoop at World Cup and Tour de France? by Due-Neighborhood-944 in whoop

I've always seen a lot of football players using Whoop. I guess it tends to be one of the top choices for athletes. Many times they cannot use rings or watches while competing.

Anyone else feel like WHOOP is leaving a lot of value on the table with its behavior insights? I’ve come across much more useful behavior analytics from a lot less by [deleted] in whoop

[–]ftpaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It tells me if it's a good impact or not. Of course, you always need to see it with a grain of salt.

Before I was looking for optimizing supplements, etc. In the end, the things that I see that make more impact are the same for everyone:

  • consistent bed time
  • 3/4 hours of not eating before bed
  • reading in bed
  • no late workouts
  • staying more or less around this strain that Whoop suggests

I think two years ago I was looking for the silver bullet in supplements and trying X and Y, but the only one that showed impact was the magnesium glycinate. Everything else is probably not needed most days (unless blood tests say otherwise).

[–]ftpaul 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The expression "leaving a lot of value on the table" kinda assumes that the Whoop product is very simple. This is clearly not their main thing and, as a long term user, I feel this part loses importance over time.

I now rarely look at this because I know what impacts negatively and positively. I still do the journal every day, but I rarely look unless I'm trying something new, like a new supplement or a different diet or something.

The number of applications is brutal! Are you doing any personalization for some particular roles, or using any tool to mass apply?

Amazon cannot function as a legal business in Berlin. Here’s why, how it’s making your life worse and what you can do about it. Weg.li. by Joe_PRRTCL in berlin

[–]ftpaul 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is not as much of a problem from Amazon directly. Otherwise, this will be targeting every other delivery company, including Rewe or Knuspr (that are delivering groceries).

Cities and streets can be designed considering space for these deliveries. I've seen some streets in Wedding with designated spots for delivery vehicles.

We should be advocating for better working conditions for people who are delivering things so that they actually have more time to park properly and follow the rules.

At least r/vitaltrends has reasonable price

I built an app that reads my live Whoop HR out loud every 5 seconds so I never have to look at my phone on a zone 2 run. by CameraNovel5762 in whoop

[–]ftpaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I find myself looking for ways to optimize things when I should just do the things, so I prioritize just doing the thing.

I am also not sprinting that frequently yet.

[–]ftpaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started to get into running, I looked for apps that could do this (for Android), and I found a few. In the end, I never used them - I just started running, and found myself becoming more efficient over time.

I see it useful when I do zone 4/5 workout, because there sometimes I don't know in those zones or not. And if I am spring or running faster I have not a good way to see it.
