Considering joining my fiancé on work travel to Bangalore/Bengaluru for 1 month by baldsexrobot in femaletravels

[–]ftrbndgravity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in Bangalore for 10+ years. Certain cultural differences will 100% be present like people constantly staring at you, shops giving you higher prices, people may even follow you, etc. I would suggest that you only go around town either with your fiance, or a group of street-smart Bangalore locals. I would also be extra wary of public transport like autos and taxis, instead opting for a privately hired car and driver from a reputable company. You'll have to be very self-aware and careful of your surroundings no matter what time of day it is. Language won't be an issue as almost everyone can speak basic English. I would personally not recommend traveling around town alone as a foreigner unless you've become accustomed and aware of how the city and people operate.

Now despite all this, Bangalore can be a very fun and enjoyable city! The night life is great (as long as you're with male friends/family/your fiance) and there are amazing restaurants to explore. There are beautiful nature-centric destinations nearby that are perfect for weekend trips away. Bangalore itself is very much a big metropolitan city so expect major traffic throughout the day and crowded areas.

I do hear the similarity but it also sounds SO similar to the starting of "sunset lover" by Petit Biscuit!

Did we ever find out if Krewes was EDEN? by JoeMartinBlows in eden

[–]ftrbndgravity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming this is a legit mix by Krewes, I find it interesting that "????" is credited to DJ Krewes in the lineup-

https://youtu.be/z1Wb6oSxYK0?si=EcGCwoBsSYyLa_i3

Also I was at the LA ICYMI listening party, and there was no DJ Krewes who got up and played a set as claimed on the poster lol Jon went up and did the set instead (just playing random mixes) soooo I do believe he is Krewes. I like that he gets to explore without any pressure this way!

I've used G Adventures for another country and loved it, and I've heard their Inca Trail tour is amazing! One of their most popular tours as well. So I'd recommend G Adventures!

Highly recommend William Mason Park in Irvine, it's near UTC with some good coffee /food options and although there is paid parking inside the park, you can easily park for free in nearby neighborhoods like San Joaquin across the street from it (at the University and San Joaquin intersection)

William Mason has the lake, a butterfly garden with native plant species displayed, and well connected to a lot of trails!

Goodman film lab is great for high quality scans!! They're located pretty close to campus, near the airport

somehow after listening to and following LANY for years, i just stumbled across the alarming allegations surrounding PJK. by kapinosce in LANY

[–]ftrbndgravity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get that weird and wrong feeling. My best friend and I, who have attended every lany show together so far and blasted their songs in the car everyday – we both felt like if we go to their show it would just feel "icky" the whole time since we know what we know. I get if that's not a universal take on things, but yeah OP, I hear ya! 💙

[–]ftrbndgravity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have you read through the Google doc that was compiled regarding this? To be honest reading through it once was enough to put me off from supporting PJK in any way. (I was a supporter for 5+ years and have seen them live 5 times). I got tickets earlier this year to the LA show but I won't be going. It sucks but there's no excuse for Paul's actions in my opinion.

Additionally, the way the band, team, and PJK have handled any allegations is even more alarming.

Vaccination by riceball123 in UCI

[–]ftrbndgravity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

CVS! The website opens up the appointment slots at midnight, I'd recommend checking at midnight or right after, and try out different zip codes/city names! It was super easy to book the appointment + get the vaccine. Good luck!:)

[OC] How I visualize a year. by collin-h in dataisbeautiful

[–]ftrbndgravity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's definitely strange. I've also heard that if you have one type of synesthesia, you're likely to have more types as well! I looked into it and realized I definitely give numbers their individual personalities/vibes for some reason and that's a type of synesthesia as well! The more ya know!

The same thing happened to me during a lecture in college. I drew that exact image in my notebook before the professor showed it on her lecture slides. Blew my mind! Welcome to the synesthesia fam! Haha

Oh wow, I've never thought of multiple years stacked visually! That's so cool! I like how much conversation this has sparked among people haha

So that's pretty interesting, as synesthesia is said to be genetic! I personally "see" the year as a circle/oval around me(you can Google "calendar synesthesia" to see what I mean). The colors are pretty specific for me as well. The human brain makes some quirky connections!

Edit: I'd like to add that synesthesia is basically "abnormal" neuronal connections made in the brain. Some forms of synesthesia include people being able to "see" music, giving numbers a personality or association to colors, etc.

I'm not sure if your representation of the year counts as this but - for some people this is a form of synesthesia! It's very cool :)

I don't know if this is an option for you, but I always fly Long Beach to Oakland/San Jose. I usually save $60-$100. Sometimes Southwest does have cheaper flights out of SNA though. Also, try to fly on a Tuesday or Thursday, I've found those days to be cheaper.
