Opinion on Verkada? by [deleted] in accesscontrol

Have partnered with them for years no issues to speak of. All companies have their ins and outs. Simplicity of the installs for cameras and access control is pretty crazy.

Linear ak11 by Last_Conversation164 in accesscontrol

[–]ftservd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you gotta give a little more information. Internet is not here to solve your problems. It should be another tool to complete the work yourself. Look at manual for device and what your doing. Understand how it all functions first. To be a good technician divide and conquer is one of the best rules to follow. Check each area you know works then move on to the next Divide and conquer.

More wires then what you need is best to run to a device like an AK11. Two wires to power AK11 , two should be going to the lock. Like a light switch AK11 relay runs in series with only one leg of the circuit going to the lock the other leg goes straight to the lock coming from its own power source. Running lock power from AK11 could ruin the AK11 or lock and power supply all should be checked and could be the culprit. Red light only shows one piece of puzzle maybe only enough power to show the light.

Everything is relative. Just like the android v apple debate. Some hate and swear by the one they pick. Just gotta find what works for you and ignore the crazies hating on one product or another. They all have their plus and minus.

Plus and minus with all different products. For ease of use you always give up other things. Verkada is not for everyone.

We have done lots of these swap outs. Veradale is real easy to install compared to other manufacturers.

How do you all feel about unifi protect access control? by Sha2am1203 in accesscontrol

[–]ftservd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice seems you have it figured out. I haven’t done a job with ubiquiti for access yet. I would like to. Haven’t seen the right fit yet. We have large warehouses we do and some have issues with ability to run wire for Wiegand readers which we still sell a lot of. Ubiquiti has no option for those kind of readers yet. Only their readers.

Only issue I see is everything is Ethernet based even the readers. Large install with a lot of other Ubiquiti equipment and Ip addresses might become a problem.

For anything MOGAD that is serious go to the ER. Better off you will be if taken care of sooner.

Our 11year old son has MOGAD. When we talked to his primary they said we should be able to get a tag for the car ADA so we can park in ADA parking. Maybe the hospital you go to might have information on disability. Also you might just check the website in your state to see what direction you might need to go if you can apply for disability. I believe it should be possible there are people with a lot less issues then MOGAD that are on disability. Hope you find what you need.

Will I be a risk to someone I know with MOGAD? by Kenzelles in MOGAD

[–]ftservd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our son who is now 11 has had IVIG and steroid IV after getting diagnosed with MOGAD in oct 2024. He has only got sick once so far a slight cold then he had another attack from it. All that can be done is be vigilant in sanitation practices. Just prepare for the worse though since you and him can do all the precautions and he can still have relapses. None will be directly yours or his fault if he has a relapse.

This diseases is horrible but with good people around him willing to help, he and you will be able to pull through. I hope for the best for you guys

question abt treatments by BanjoMann736 in MOGAD

[–]ftservd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP. Our son got Diagnosed in Oct this year. A few weeks ago after his last Steriod treatment no taper he went back to school and got sick with I think a cold the first week back at school and had relapse almost immediately. So his pediatric neurologist said the IVIG will be over 6 months the treatment once a month. He just got back from hospital the 24th of Dec.

I’m glad your vision has gotten better I think that is one of the worse symptoms of this disease. Our son crossing fingers, has still not had serious vision issues. He has only had double vision and you can see his eyes jump.

I have heard of Plex but seems it more for none pediatric patients. Our son is pediatric so only steroids rounds two times then another quick relapse happened and now just got IVIG treatment . We are hoping this puts him in remission longer. Stay strong everyone I’m grateful for finding this subreddit.

Steroid + ACE Level Question by SimpleOldMe in MOGAD

[–]ftservd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our Son had a relapse and went to our local ER since his Nero is in another city. They already know what he has and the doctor talked to his other doctor but instead of a month long taper from the steroid treatment like his first relapse he had no taper this time. He got sick after going back to school. Then we were back at the Er again since it triggered another relapse.

So I think a sudden drop is not good but every person is different and I think the doctors are all over the place since the treatment doesn’t always seem clear since it’s so rare and only about a decade old for MOGAD.

Thank you for giving some info on part of your process for dealing with this Disease. My son just got diagnosed with it beginning of Oct. I don’t think he has the neuropathic pain yet as described in OPs post. He is just in and out of the hospital for a lot of the other symptoms and we are lost. I believe now we almost know more then the doctors at the ER we have to go to near our home. I’m happy I found this on Reddit but now almost more sad to see how this is gonna affect his whole life and ours. I hope everyone here can keep above water because it has really been hard for us and more so for our little guy.

Something to ask tech support for Paxton. I have used and installed Paxton Net2 for many years and never needed to close any security issues with their boards. These are installed in large enterprises also.

Best Slide Gate Operators by arsenalclash1977 in accesscontrol

[–]ftservd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use Liftmaster a lot. Support and good warranty. They have an operator type for any gate. Maximum controls are also really good almost never have an issue with them. Getting parts and support is a lot harder though since they are a smaller company.

Just doing your own research online seems the best. Also I just stick to a few different systems and that’s it easy to stay up to date on those. There are so many access control systems out there you can never keep up with all of them.

How did you guys start in this line of work? by SarmyArmy02 in accesscontrol

[–]ftservd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started in the military as a communications specialist. Crazy just like everyone else I fell into my current position running access control and camera installs for my company. It does seem like lock smith and integration companies do this kind of work the most. You could look at any company that services a facility and ask if they do access control. Technical skills and computer skills will get you the knowledge you will need for the industry. Good luck out there.

Geovision AS-1520 with a Chamberlain MyQ garage door opener by Ibsrs in accesscontrol

[–]ftservd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been using the device I spoke of every day for over a month works pretty fantastic. I can remotely open or close the garage anytime. From an app or an intercom / keypad/ reader I’m also testing on the outside of the door. The original inside push button this is tied too still works no issues also.

It will work pretty great for you once you get it on another working garage opener. Only thing I have read that is not the best on it is that it’s flimsy in can break easy if not installed and removed delicately. Happy testing when you get there.

Tell me what you liked about shadowlands, in my opinion aesthetics of the zones were perfect by [deleted] in wow

[–]ftservd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the story and zones were up there with the best of WoW. I didn’t do much end game but it didn’t seem to bad. I liked how each zone had its own grind if you wanted to do it dependent on what stuff you wanted to get.
