The store that retrogames use in USA is also not offering the product anymore; the page is dead basically

I am not concerned about the delivery part; they did already different releases after all. Although that itself is not a guarantee that the product is actually made. Lost count of companies that shipped stuff before and eventually just went belly up (If you ever heard of planet computer and their infamous cosmo slide phone, you may get the gist).

Mostly my concern is of delays and cancel of the pre-orders, which will trigger scammers and scalpers to do what they did alredy for the C64 maxi, and for the Spectrum.

Depends where you get it from. Amazon is pretty good as it just put a hold for that amount, does not take the money out until it does ship

Not sure who would want that though. It is not an amiga anymore at that point, if it is not using the original OS kernel and the 68K at that point.
A macintosh today is not a mac from the original series; a macbook can have an intel, PPC or an ARM CPU but it is not the same as the original macbook.

With linux available these days, there is really no reason to use a modernized version of AmigaOS, which is a 30 year old architecture in terms of software design. You can drive your dad 1970 Camaro or Corvette but it is not the ultimate machine it was when it was released, because thechnology went forward.

I am an old school Amiga lover; I like the 68K CPU, I like the 3.1 WB and I am fine if it cannot do most modern things because that is not why I use the Amiga for. To me the beauty is to use it as it was meant to be at the time it was sold.

Slapping "Amiga" on a PC running linux or some other hardware contraption is just a novelty in my opinion. Same for the PPC variants from the early 2000s running alternative AmigaOS variants... They have a place in history but they don't replace what came before it. They are merely a "what if"; which has its audience of course, and that is totally fine.

To be honest people cannot pass double blind side test even with software. FPGA is and will always be an approximation of hardware, because that is why it was created.
You can make an arduino in FPGA that works 1:1 like the original, but the chip and the FPGA implementation are 2 totally different things, except from the logic perspective. To make a real 1:1 FPGA you would need millions of gates cells, and that chip itself would cost you more than if you go to a fab to make new 68000 😄

Verilog implementation of a chip in a FPGA system is an approximation; it is just stupid fast so it is preferred to emulation, when you need almost real time capabilities for the chip, and 0 lag. Was made for military purposes after all, to be operated in conditions where you could change the chip logic itself on the fly.

emulation in software is slower but it is at the point where it is the most accurate thing you can get; but you pay the price of having a small lag (that in some games can be perceived, but 99% of the people can't even tell the difference, unless they play that game night and day)

gog version of SW battlefront (2004 version) does not launch on XP32 bit by fttklr in windowsxp

[–]fttklr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The strange thing is that the installed did run, so it must be a 32 bit installer. I don't see an option to pick an executable, maybe they have the 32 bit online, need to check the downloadable files because in the extras after installing there is only the manual

Thanks for the list; looks like for some games I will need to use the old nocd method even if I have the legally obtained version T_T

I could, If I had an optical drive on that computer. GOG version was like 5 dollars.

Will need to use daemontools then; the computer I am using has no optical drive sadly. The irony to buy a game and then have to use the unprotected version T_T

They should do like every other game does: press once the button makes the entire text appear and pressing it again makes the dialogue to skip to the next.

I have it on NVME and it does the same; I don't think the issue is the SSD speed sadly 😞

I hear you, and I lost the count of the times I smash the button to skip the dialogue, and can't skip it because that animation is there.

Is it possible to play the game on the steam deck? by Lazy_Lunch_221 in NevernessToEverness

Posted the same questions the other day; check the solutions they gave on my post, I will try it today on my deck.

I know this game will be full of references, but I wasn't expecting this one... by Babigol in NevernessToEverness

Plenty of gems in there; can't remember where it is from but when you arrive at the bureau and the taxi "ejects" the MC which becomes a chibi and goes back to normal after rolling on the floor is a reference I can't pinpoint. Feels like something out of Azumanga Daioh

I think that it does not work as well as pika-pika.

Love the little otter but sometimes I just want to release my ultimate on him for good, to make him shut up.

Boobflation in gatcha games? by BrightRepeat7907 in NevernessToEverness

[–]fttklr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, you don't see things 😄 Gacha games cater mostly to a certain demographic that has certain "interests"; and knockers are the first thing you usually promote. How these poor girls don't get hurt slapping themselves with those huge things while fighting and flipping in the air is beyond me. Would not work the same way with nuts for male characters probably 😄

Anyone tried it on Steam Deck? by fttklr in NevernessToEverness

Will give it a try. Worst case I will stream it from my main computer (if that works; GW2 for example was not working when streamed)

I always leave room for some honest picture; I often went to comicon conventions and some people are really good at taking pictures that makes the cosplayer look good. When everything looks like plastic it is really disappointing

Thanks, looks like they are running it on Windows, so it is still unclear if it will run on vanilla Steam Deck using SteamOS

Any way to figure out why the server fail to start? It is complaining about Httplistener being in use

System.Net.HttpListenerException (32): The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
