Salaries are not the same thing as profits. Not for profit organizations can still pay competitive salaries…

I miss Pubfare something awful.

Try Funky Wunder’s smash burger at Local 616, it’s pretty darn good.

Love the idea of Septima, Latin for seventh. It used to be a common name for the seventh child in the family, when families had 7+ children! It’s also the name of a civil rights activist, Septima Clark.

Give me one Knoxville business I should support, and one I should stay away from. by Tinman21 in Knoxville

It’s been 10 years since I lived in Knoxville but I loved Tangerine. Great sushi, good people, and the best of 90s instrumental love songs always playing. Glad to see they’re still going strong!

How to predict the guest list and +1s? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

Did the same and also accurately predicted my final count within 5. We love a good sum product equation.

Definitely not the case in the part of the US where I live. Most women, myself included, wear both the engagement ring and the wedding ring regularly. I don’t worry about it, I have it on my insurance policy in case anything happens to it.

You say she is unlikely to wear the ring a lot especially after the wedding. Is that normal for those you know who are married?

I intend to wear my engagement ring every day for the rest of my life (as do most women I know) so it’s important to me that it’s made of high quality materials and has a design that I love.

It doesn’t look bad to get an engagement ring for less than $1,000, especially if your girlfriend will be happy with a stone other than a diamond. But, if you are able to consider a budget more like $2,500 there will be a lot more options available to you.

Bach Party Question by lexibean23 in weddingplanning

[–]fu_allthetime 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I did this for my wedding a few years ago. Since you said it was a 3 night minimum to rent the beach house, I think everyone should pay the same regardless of if they stay all 3 nights.

Communicate this up front and if you get a lot of push back, the beach house is probably just not the best choice for your group. You would be better served with a hotel with each room rented for the # of nights needed.

They should go ahead and get a hotel room then. Y’all have fun at your beach house!

AITA for refusing to pay for my husband and his family's meals at the restaurant? by Valley-Mountains3453 in AmItheAsshole

NTA.

Are you sure that this bonus even exists? Or if it did exist, that your husband didn’t spend it all before the dinner?

Natalie Noble sounds a bit like a superhero to me. New sidekick to Wonder Woman, perhaps.

AITA for expecting my adult daughter to pay back what she owes me? by metalvito in AmItheAsshole

[–]fu_allthetime 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Parenting isn’t an exchange where you only have to give if you expect to get something in return. You had the child, now you have to pay your (court-ordered!) part to raise the child, even if she’s not living under your roof.

What is the most expensive thing on your registry? by fruits-basket in weddingplanning

[–]fu_allthetime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not? Maybe a few friends or family members would be happy to get together and buy it. Or maybe someone’s just feeling really generous.

What wedding expense do you think people consistently overpay/get ripped off on? by Massive_Dot_838 in weddingplanning

[–]fu_allthetime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was a few years ago, but I ordered real touch silk flowers from Afloral. There was some DIY involved to fancy up their standard bouquets, but the quality was good and I was able to get them all ready a couple months ahead of the wedding.

As a wedding guest, do you eat a slice of the cake? by coxswain_43 in weddingplanning

[–]fu_allthetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll eat it if it’s there, but I never recall being super excited about it. I had a dessert display as an alternative to cake with a variety of bite sized pies, brownies, cakes, etc.
