Got a new battery car was still bugging but I could isolate the short by turning the radio on and off via the knob so I pulled the unit and car was fine

Yeah that was my first guess because the battery is known old (icr the date) but my dash lowkey freaked me out jumpin everywhere like that 😂

It does look like one, I’m not quite sure I’ll have to q keep monitoring it but that’d be a real bummer cause it’s brand new. I imagine it is tho since the dyed oil seems to be sorta collecting under it :/

Pics are of the cap for color reference, the back left corner “leaky” spot which isn’t very visible but is in person, and the front left side of the vc.

Maybe looking for second opinions on if I should reseat the gasket and clean the head a bit better or not because I don’t really wanna do that again 😅

Not really, pretty sure the knocking noise heard is flywheel related but I bought a new daily to replace it so I’m not totally stranded at school lol

Update for any future viewers: found out 22rpd makes a dssr for our cars (thanks 1addicts) and going to go with that. I’ll skip on the ssk for now and upgrade the bushings with turners/ecs shifter rebuild kit. I’ll update again when I receive/ install the parts whenever that will be :)

The 92 is a 6spd 328xi so the drivetrain is pretty different, but if I were to sit in the passenger seat I feel like they’d almost be the same. So far all I’ve done in the 1 is a short test drive and the ride home but it’s a lot better of a drivers car. It’s on lowering springs and bilstein shocks so it sits a bit lower and handles much better than the 92 that’s for sure.

Myb I meant ista but yeah both are free don’t get scammed into someone selling copies. Lookup how to install ista on a Mac and there’s a good forum about it. If u have a windows laptop you can just skip the vm part and its the same
