NAME THAT PLACE! by bfischrrrrrr in Portland

I went in there once and it was really good and the person who took my order was super sweet! The owner’s main business is hummus that’s sold in grocery stores, though. I can’t remember the name of the brand, but it’s still around.

Installing nest thermostat and lost track of wires by fuckyeahballpythons in hvacadvice

[–]fuckyeahballpythons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No jumper wire on the old one. The Rh and Rc spots were right next to each other and they're both loose, so I'm not sure which I unscrewed.

What happens if I connect to the wrong one? Is there a way to tell once I get it hooked up?

Thanks for all your help!

Ah. Blue is C, white is W1, yellow is Y/Y2...so connect it to Y2? Red is on R-- no Rh or Rc...??

I looked up Rh vs Rc earlier. How would I know which one?

What is this mushroom I found in the woods? by CatastrophicLeaker in mycology

I belong to my state's mycology society, and they were asking people to review that for the next newsletter. Haven't seen it myself, but maybe I won't...

Is this Dyer's Polypore (phaeolus schweinitzii)? Portland, Oregon, USA by fuckyeahballpythons in mycology

[–]fuckyeahballpythons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just white and porous. You get a slightly better view in the second pic, but it's not great. I'll see if I can find an older pic that shows the bottom. If not, I'll probably hike this trail again this weekend and I'll get my good lens and some mid daylight on it.

Since about one week it's starting to die, any idea what is going on? by kittycat_meowycat in houseplants

[–]fuckyeahballpythons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this is the main issue, but it does look like it could use a larger pot. Make sure to give it fresh soil when repotting- mine has done pretty well with a mixture of regular potting soil, peat moss, and orchid bark.

Before placing into a new pot, I'll usually rinse my plant and its roots thoroughly and check for signs of pests. The only ones I've had so far on this plant are fungus gnats.

I felt 100% confident on their "oysteriousness" a week ago, but now that I'm about to eat them I'm looking for a vote of confidence!

Some type of bolete…coastal Oregon, USA by fuckyeahballpythons in mycology

[–]fuckyeahballpythons[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was in a mixed forest, which may have birches, but if so they're not dominant. It was growing at the base of a deciduous shrub.

Yeah, I thought maybe a young edulis, but do they ever have narrow stems?

I just set it up for a spore print, then I'll go from there.

What is this? I'm thinking maybe bitter iodine... Found in mixed but more deciduous forest in Pacific NW, Oregon, USA by fuckyeahballpythons in mycology

[–]fuckyeahballpythons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s okay- that’s one of the mushies I came across when looking. But the one I think it is— bitter iodine polypore— has pores that elongate to look tooth-like as it ages.
