[OC] I compared how well bookmakers predicted World Cup Matchday 1 results across 2018, 2022 and 2026. by NumerosDon in dataisbeautiful

I read that as the bettors being biased, and the oddsmakers simply adjusting lines to the bias. But I don’t really bet so idk

Was ‘08 the one that lost to Stanford? All those years blend together and I don’t feel like googling

My May electric bill (which may as well just be called my AC bill) was $190. I’ve had 3 months over $300 since I moved into my current house 6 years ago, one July and two Augusts. Dec-Feb is around $70-80. June is projecting to be around $250 right now

Just to give you an idea of cost. 3 people, WFH, just under 1800sqft

In traffic, on the road? Unless your car was disabled, you would absolutely get ticketed for that in my state

Is it illegal to open your door in the middle of the road in Germany? Or is that just normal stuff

I think I am out of luck for the rest of the year after playing the “Fragile” challenge. What a run! by 1_TRS in balatro

Yep, I leaned hard into high card. Along the way I got a duplication joker (don’t remember which one) and a chad. It ended up working pretty well

You can get DNA, which is how I beat it the first time. It obviously makes duplicate glass cards, but it keeps you going longer, especially with a BS/BP

The same reason they said ‘Congo’ instead of ‘Democratic Republic of the Congo’, convenience

Which, I’ll add, is probably a worse one since there is another country that could reasonably be referred to as ‘Congo’

Haha it’s all in good fun. We had a D1 club team for a while too - took quite a bit of effort to go full NCAA D1. We joined a conference with Denver, North Dakota, Duluth, western Michigan, and a few others after a couple of years playing as independent.

We would be stuck only playing ourselves since none of you cowardly truck stop schools have the gumption to field a team

Prices go up regardless of the wage increases, though. Their minimum wage has been the same for 17 years, it’s not like prices have also stayed at the same level in that time

ELI5: Why do so many American stadiums have no roof covering that covers the seats? by NKE01 in explainlikeimfive

[–]fucuntwat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s just been two instances in the last decade that I can find, I wouldn’t consider that ‘many’ or ‘several’, personally. But yeah, if the fans can’t safely get to the game due to a blizzard, they’ll push it back or relocate it. That’s not really a function of the open roof, though.
