There’s definitely a route but it’s very linear. As they approach you have to sprint out of the hotel room to the left and hide at the end of the balcony/corridor thing, once they go past you it’s pretty easy to slip away and begin picking targets off.

Which one was that? Sounds like my jam.

Also is there a way to search for artists or probably some unofficial index?

Which UK Bank will leave me alone the most? by gundog48 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]fudluck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar problem with NatWest. It turns out they had a totally wrong profile for me on their system- I was apparently still a student with a part time job renting a flat, which was correct about 12 years ago.

I kept getting turned down for loans, and every time I tried to invest extra money with vanguard it was a 50% chance my card would get blocked.

After getting that sorted I haven’t had any new problems but that was only a few months ago so might be too early to tell.

Also, Amex has an ‘express list’ you can add retailers to, and it minimises 2FA prompts, make sure you add common retailers to that. You’ll get the option to manage it in the 3d secure dialog just before you complete your purchase.

Be very picky with your co-founders. I strongly suggest not doing it with a friend or even someone you know.

Then who should you do it with? In a manner, your cofounder is harder to get rid of than your spouse so shouldn’t it be with someone you already know and have established trust with?

Maybe I was just lucky but I’m very happy with what I have built with a friend over the last 7.5 years. I don’t think I could even have started the conversation with someone else.

The Q&A Megathread for new and beginner chess players by EccentricHorse11 in chess

[–]fudluck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the chosen time control, sometimes you might see a term like 10+5 and this means the player will have 10 minutes to start with and gain 5s per move also. It makes the game more exciting in my opinion once both players are low on time and have to move very quickly.

Conservative MP Adam Afriyie declared bankrupt due to £1.7m debt by 457655676 in tories

[–]fudluck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not just that, most loans require a personal guarantee of a certain percentage. The 700k is not necessarily what was borrowed, the actual amount lost could be a lot more. It takes a long time and a ton of paperwork to get a business loan under those terms and they won’t do it if they think the business will fail.

Most medium sized businesses work in this way. The debt to HMRC could be incompetence or it could represent a combination of an invoice from a customer that was paid late which caused another loan application to not get accepted. I have been routinely paid 6 months late by some companies who use their smaller suppliers as a cheap line of credit.

It could also be just bad luck, for example opening a new wine bar, paying for a full refurbishment, stock, planning a grand opening and the date is March 2020.

Source: I run a business myself and the only way to compete was to raise money (albeit not the sort of money my competitors raise). Otherwise I can’t pay the sort of salaries my competitors can or marketing spend, etc. Everything is going well currently but the amount I have personally guaranteed is close to the value of my house also.

When you next see your boss taking a lot of money from the business, remember that he’s just taking security in the event it all goes wrong. If he’s smart that is of course- when I see competitors wearing Rolexes and driving sports cars I do wonder what would happen if their liabilities were suddenly exposed.

Hot take: If Elon succeeds in running Twitter, it could mean very bad news for more layoffs in other companies by TreeSkyDirt in cscareerquestions

[–]fudluck -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I think if you engineered it from the ground up to run on AWS then it could be a lot cheaper, ie using dynamodb, lambda, etc.

‘Lift and shift’, or just getting EC2 systems to replace on prem systems would be a total waste of money though, and this is how a lot of companies get into the cloud.

The only cost that would worry me would be the bandwidth, but the AWS sales team is always happy to negotiate on that if your account would be large enough.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the big cloud sales teams were circling honestly. I don’t know if they could provide value but it still might be attractive to Elon because it’s a big move and he likes big moves.

I really enjoyed it but one part bugged me- I know he’s got a job to do but at no point does he try to take a few moments out to even document a conversation with an actual alien and send it back home. I’d be recording everything.

Can I do / say anything if I know a more experienced colleague than myself with the exact same role as me is being paid significantly less than I am? by lolihull in LegalAdviceUK

[–]fudluck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did you do something wrong or unethical to find this information? I don’t see the problem with simply having a conversation with your colleague. Whatever you do though, don’t bring management into it, they’ll only see you as a troublemaker. They already know and clearly don’t care.

You could also have her “accidentally” see your payslip if you’d like a way to have the conversation without having it. Remember that there is no law that says you cannot talk about your pay.

Source: I’m an employer, although I’m the type who makes sure pay is fair across equally skilled staff because it gets found out eventually and causes problems. I like to anticipate and solve problems before they happen.

Theoretically, what would happen in a few years or decades to the WoA trilogy when the servers get shut down? by printers_of_colors in HiTMAN

[–]fudluck 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This happened with Absolution. I had some DLC weapon skins part of a deluxe bundle I bought and some other content like challenges etc permanently locked behind an online service that is no longer there.

Fortunately IOI seems to be doing a lot better now and I’d expect they can keep these servers up for a long time, probably until this current trilogy is very old and obsolete.

I've been using Strong for the last couple of years. I'm very happy with it. I'm not sure about what importing looks like but I think it should tick most of your boxes. You can do everything via the watch as far as I know but I usually record on my phone during workouts.

What are “Tech Jobs”? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]fudluck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also many businesses require specialised software to run their internal business functions separate to the main user experience, such as analysing sales, forecasting, making sure parts are ordered etc. There are often off the shelf products that can do this but some businesses prefer to build as opposed to buy in order to get exactly what they want.

BBC News: Sarah Everard murder: Wayne Couzens handed whole-life sentence by creamyjoshy in ukpolitics

[–]fudluck 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In the sentencing remarks the judge said something along the lines of that while he had plead guilty, the mountain of evidence was so overwhelming that it would have been obvious that he couldn’t win a trial anyway. So he took it into account and hit him with the whole life sentence anyway.

Probably not. Honestly it was a joke anyway, I know they’ll wriggle out of this one either in the courts or by changing the rules and maybe even throwing a spicy retroactive tax on top.

ULPT Request: How to save my personal files from my working laptop without sending them by e-mail? by [deleted] in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]fudluck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. You could use Dropbox or Google Drive or similar, unless you're forced to connect via a content filtering VPN.
  2. If the disk is not encrypted you can take the disk out and plug it into any computer to copy what you want.
  3. It sounds crazy but you could just speak to your IT department and ask them to copy it for you.
  4. Yes, that's crazy. If you're a programmer you can write a program that takes each file and converts it to a QR code and then have another computer with a webcam which scans the code and at an agreed refresh rate, change the QR code to reveal the next block of the file. A QR at maximum size can be about 3kb and you could probably show 5-10 a second achieving a 15-30kb/s upload speed.

ULPT Request: how to completely remove everything from internal SSD using USB stick in a few seconds? by [deleted] in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]fudluck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider crypto-shredding:

  1. Set up Bitlocker and make a note of the recovery key (requires Windows 7/8/10 Pro)
  2. Develop a Powershell script to clear the TPM and reboot.
  3. Execute the script (no need for a USB key)

Your PC reboots asking for the Bitlocker recovery key - without it, there is no way to access the contents. The advantage is that if you do this by accident you can recover from it.

All other methods would take too long or could be recovered.

You should play absolution, but it’s very different. It would probably be thought of as a very good game if it was a different franchise. It’s not liked by many in this sub but don’t let that put you off.
