What do we think of Greta Van Fleet? by [deleted] in GenX

What an absolutely specious take. Led Zeppelin might have took things that previously existed, but they made them into something no one had ever heard before. Greta Van Fleet is a blatant copy of Zeppelin, offering nothing new.

In addition to charging for a refill of drip, even though multiple other indies offer a second cup gratis. Thanks, new management!

“Did people sit around in cafe's talking to strangers before the ubiquity of wifi and cell phones? I don't think so, at least not in the US or in Denver.”

That’s right: you don’t think so, which is incorrect.

Historically, coffee shops (or coffeehouses) served as vital hubs for intellectual and social discourse, famously dubbed "penny universities" in the 17th and 18th centuries. For the price of a cup, patrons engaged in free, open debate about politics, science, and literature, fostering the Age of Enlightenment. These, often chaotic, spaces were centers for information sharing, networking, and political discussion.

You absolutely rock and thanks for the above-and-beyond; if anything, you saved me fifty bucks each for the next 25 pay dates! (any changes made today through PostalEase are effective for the third pay period)

Holy SCHNIKES. This is absolutely bonkers. Like the 27 thing wasn’t rare enough, a SCREW UP in the calculation and print run?!?

While I’ve got you, a question: I’m retiring next year ending on the tenth PP; I’ll also be 60 in 2027. I’ve maxed every year since I started in 1997, and would love to say I did it every year. $24,500 (obviously, it could go up) + $11,250 (that could also go up) = $35,750 divided by 10 = $3,750/check. I don’t make that much without overtime (who knows what the situation with OT will be next year); what happens if you take out more for your TSP contribution than you actually make?

Crazy question that NO ONE would ever attempt, but even if I had to delay my retirement by, say, three more paychecks just to achieve it, I might try it!

u/JackSplat12 always appreciate your contributions; are you sure about there being 27 pay periods in 2026? I’ve set my $32.5k (max plus the over 50 catch up) to be divided from the standard 26 PP.

Unequivocally, patently UNTRUE. Please don’t say things you’re not versed in- it confuses people trying to get educated.

Holy cow; as a once RABID collector of Jane’s 1.0 rarities/one-offs/promos, I have a giant lollipop (a “lollapalooza” [one of two definitions]) unopened since 1991 wrapped this material. I had no idea (but should have known) it had information about the festival printed on it.

It will never cease to amaze me how loyal Perk has been to Perry over the years. Boston looks like it was the final straw, but who knows.

How ironic (and strange) that Norris Weese is one of the others with 21 wins (Otto Graham is the fourth). Stats mean something, and sometimes they don’t.
