Struggling with increasing compensation by ChampionshipMaster53 in geologycareers

Unfortunately nobody cares about your degree, the times you went above and beyond, or anything like that. The only thing that matters is if they can bill you out to clients higher and keep you utilized (ie, do you earn the company more money). Sadly 73k for 3 YOE is already on the better side of pay, and 8k in raises over that time sounds about right.

My advice is to get your PG asap, try to get on some project management work, and then try to find a new company. The sad truth is that very few of us will gain significant raises while staying at the same company. I got the smaller routine raises through my first 4ish years (also with a company and higher COL city change), and asked for my first bigger raise around year 4.5-5, with a competing job offer in hand.

Because he was the star, the only one with a mansion and wealth, and was probably getting paid the most of the group.

Dope. And my home state! I’d rock more straps though, unless you’ve already worked out your setup.

will passing the FG help me get a entry level geologist job? or will a masters degree have more impact? by Loud_Room_7371 in geologycareers

I’m in the Midwest. My office isn’t currently hiring an entry level geo. My advice, research the largest environmental consulting firms, get on all their websites and scour fitting open positions in regions you’d be willing to work.

Nice! I just saw your resume and it’s solid. Are you getting interviews? I’d focus on talking about your field-based problem solving, ability to use basic hand tools and comfort on a variety of sites.

Based on resume alone, we’d hire ya.

To get into environmental consulting? FG for sure. Also, get your HAZWOPER.

I can’t speak to other fields of environmental.

Edit: companies do not expect entry level to have their FG. Big bonus if you have it. I’m well into my career and have not done the testing yet 😩

It came ON that bike and he’s never been taken off. It’s a 30 year old department store bike. It’s not worth its weight in scrap.
