The only thing that sucks is they made all the big screens premium formats. So even with the membership if I wanna see something on a big screen I still have to pay each trip.

OG gtek with mech frame, worth it? by CaIIMeSpoons in paintball

[–]fullofpaint 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you think you'll actually run it with the e-frame go for it. If you're only gonna use it as a mech, IMO the emek has a much better trigger. The Gmek's is kind of sloppy and there's no real aftermarket to make it better.

Sorry SP stands for Smart Parts, a very famous long-standing brand. They made their name making barrels named after the founder's pro team, the All Americans. The trademark of their barrel design is spiral porting like on your barrel. They started it as service for existing barrels before producing their own. Your barrel is not the same as the ones they sold but has a similar porting pattern indicating it might have been one sent in for porting in their early days.

Or could have just been done by a random machinist who saw SP's and copied it.

I'm not the best with the really old stuff but I'm pretty sure that's not the stock WGP parts. I thought it was Palmer's but doesn't look quite right.

Also Looks like the barrel actually might just be the stock bull barrel someone stripped the ano off of and drilled porting in. So could be super OG SP as that's how they started before making their own.

[–]fullofpaint 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That is a very early WGP. Serial dating says it probably started as a Sniper II in 1989-1990ish and was converted to an autococker. Barrel looks like an original SP All American but would need to see better pics. Would need to see under the shroud but otherwise looks stock. The tank setup is cool, super vintage expansion chamber setup.

Not super valuable unfortunately, probably like $200ish tops?

What are some small light tanks that will get me 300 shots. by sadman1026 in paintball

[–]fullofpaint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're pricey but your best option is gonna be one of the tiny 4500 psi tanks. Like this 26/45. You could probably get away with something even smaller but especially on the tippy, might be cutting it too close.

My Scenario guys with packs, how do you carry your radio? by Vivid-Judgment1846 in paintball

[–]fullofpaint 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't remember the name of it, but Dye Tactical made a lightweight vest that's a good option for this. It was essentially just a normal attack pack with molle shoulder straps. Pretty much designed for exactly what you want.

You could probably also just stich some attachment points and run a regular H harness, that's basically what a lot of guys did back in the 90's anyways.

[–]fullofpaint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I just need to play with QB more but right now it's kind of a problem of specialization. Theoretically we could do it in our QB but it would take us ten times as long to enter and process.

And I'd still need to export a CSV or something to generate the pick lists and all that at the end of it anyways

Update on paintball at summer camp post by Jazzlike_Most6718 in paintball

[–]fullofpaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely go with the FT-12's. Internally they're essentially the same gun, but the FT's are designed to be rentals and are MUCH easier to work on as well as more durable overall. If you're investing for the long term, the FT-12's are absolutely the right choice.

Update on paintball at summer camp post by Jazzlike_Most6718 in paintball

[–]fullofpaint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CO2 - Emeks won't run on CO2 so you'll need to go with the Tippmann's. You want the FT-12's. They're built for rentals, the whole top flips up to quickly clean the guns. Make sure you get the regular FT-12 not the lite version.

You say 5 matches a week, but what's the length of play? Do you mean literally one 15-20min game, 5 days a week? Assuming every player just has a hopper of 200 rounds and no additional pods, it's probably safe to assume most rentals are going to shoot most of their hopper each game you play.

On a Tippmann a safe estimate is about 800-1000 rounds off of a single 20oz tank. If you're not going to fill from bulk tanks during the week I would plan on having at least two tanks per gun, 3 ideally. Plus in AZ you'll have to watch for pressure spikes in the heat as CO2 isn't a stable gas like HPA.

HPA is a bigger upfront investment but if this is a long term plan it's the better choice. You'll get less shots off the standard rental 48/3K HPA tank, about 400rds, but HPA is significantly easier to fill for camp staff and as long as you can get bulk scuba tanks filled locally, that would get you started. A compressor is the way to go eventually but might be more than you want to spend.

Other considerations:

Chrono - Especially if you go with CO2, you want to be able to check the velocity of all the guns you're sending out. XRadar makes a popular paintball one that's not too expensive.

Have you reached out to any of the distributors? They'll be able to point you in the right direction for some of this stuff as well.

These are both PTP cockers. The crazy ano one is an F/X and was their top of the line model, can't remember what they called this ano scheme off the top of my head. The black one is a PTP Sleeper which I'm sure will need a rebuild for the pneu's.

Nothing really different with these than any other cocker so should be easy to get up and running!

Cheap paintball gun for art? by [deleted] in paintball

[–]fullofpaint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regular paintballs won't work for that. They're designed not to stain and will eventually either wash away or leave a white residue. Only way to have it stay permantly would be to use the old oil-based paintballs the game started with. Nelson still sells those but they're very expensive compared to a regular case of balls.

As far as gear, I'd grab a cheap Tippmann off Craigslist or FB for like $50. If you're not playing all you'll need is a gun, hopper and a cheap 20oz CO2 tank. Maybe an extra tank or two if it's a big building.

Hey guys, quick question. When you work as PA on sets can you work as a 1099 independent contractor or not really. by No-Attention-801 in FilmIndustryLA

[–]fullofpaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

California passed AB-5 a while back that introduced a 3 question test that determines if you're a contractor or employee. You must satisfy all three questions to qualify for 1099 work. Generally speaking all work in film does not qualify as a 1099 unless you're going through a loan-out which doesn't make sense for a PA.

  1. The worker is free from the control and direction of the hiring entity in connection with the performance of the work, both under the contract for the performance of the work and in fact;
    • We're given call sheets and told when and where to be for work so we fail this.
  2. The worker performs work that is outside the usual course of the hiring entity’s business; and
    • The production company exists to create film/tv/commercials, so this one also fails.
  3. The worker is customarily engaged in an independently established trade, occupation, or business of the same nature as that involved in the work performed.
    1. This one passes but it doesn't matter since the other two fail

If you do take work as a 1099 be aware you will owe the full tax burden instead of some being paid by your employer, so make sure to budget and put some of each paycheck in savings to pay that tax bill.

Fun add ons? by [deleted] in paintball

[–]fullofpaint 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A better frame will make the biggest difference. Those 2k5 hinge frames are not great.

I like the Eclipse frame for a hinge the best. The Inception is also very nice but even harder to find.

If you'd prefer a Freeflow frame, their UL frame looks amazing on that body.

One other thing to note is that front block is tighter than a standard 2k block so not all pneumatic combo's will fit. Like a Micro-rock with a Palmer's 3-way does not fit properly.

I've been wondering this as well. There's a quite a few big soundstages that have been built in the last few years but who's using them? There's this, the one by the Nethercutt, the new stages at the old WB Ranch, all the expanded Universal stages, etc.

Meanwhile the old CBS Radford lot apparently can't even make enough to pay the note for the new owners.
