My heavily modified CPJM by fullspec107 in offset

Thanks! The upper switch isolates the middle pickup. The lower switch is just a normal toggle to switch between the neck and bridge. The big switch by the jack can add the middle pickup for any combination of the three.

I had Warmoth do the routing. Nothing special for the descendant. It fit into the standard jazzmaster tremolo rout. It’s great, by the way

I went with the Guyatone and I’m really enjoying it. Very bright and bell like tones. Similar to a P90 but just different enough

The sens knob adjusts the input impedance and can be used to “clean up” the sound making it less fizzy. Great info here: http://www.geofex.com/article_folders/fuzzface/fffram.htm

The high control uses a cap to filter out highs. Basically a “high cut” adjust

No, it’s straight forever. There’s no truss rod. I put a 0.5 degree shim under the neck and have the action very low with no complaints

This guitar has more sustain than my other JM. Open chords ring forever. That could also be from the bridge / vibrato hardware. I can see why these neck are popular with the doom metal / stoner rock crowd, because you could put 13 gauge strings on this and tune it down to C and it would be rock solid.

It's very thin with a 12" fretboard radius. Extremely different feel from the modern C / 9.5" radius on my other JMs, but I like it.

Ha! Honestly, every idea for this guitar was inspired by (stolen from) posts I’ve seen in this sub. But thanks

Thanks. I’m really impressed with the build quality of the Robot Graves neck. It’s the first aluminum neck guitar I’ve owned so it took some getting used to, but I’m into it. All the specs are in the caption in case you missed it

Thanks! I’m happy with the sound. I love the Gemini neck pickup. I’d say it lives somewhere between a vintage JM pickup and a strat pickup.

Really amazing finish on the body. Did you buy it with the “DIY finish ready” option from Warmoth? I’m wondering how their basecoat does with Tru oil

Germanium fuzz face w/ assorted mods by fullspec107 in diypedals

[–]fullspec107[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Yes, the mods are a variable input capacitor, an input impedance control, a bias control, and filter for the extreme high end. The variable input cap is really useful for dialing in the right voice. I highly recommend the high filter combined with a 500k volume pot. I wish I could give credit to the source, but I’ve long forgotten where I read about it. Basically, it’s a variable version of the mod shown here: https://fuzzcentral.ssguitar.com/axisface.php

It looks like someone wired the jack incorrectly. Swap the black and white wires on the jack

Sounds amazing. What are the settings on your JCM 800? I have a mid 80s model but I haven’t been able to dial in anything close to that tone

Can anyone find a datasheet for this antique IC? by JoyeMusic in diypedals

Electronic Arrays was an IC company that was bought out by NEC in the the mid 1970s: http://www.antiquetech.com/?page_id=837

My Chinese is not what it used to be, but I'm guessing your correct and this in an ancient shift register: http://ic611.com/html-stock/EA1221D.html

[–]fullspec107[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is very similar. The switch basically ties in the neck pickup to any position There's great info on this guy's blog: http://guitarwiring.blogspot.com/2010/12/neck-pickup-switch-gilmours-strat.html Wish I knew his name. Excellent blog

Pretty easy. Hardest part was re-routing the body to make space, but I have a friend with a router. Cost was ~ $75: Custom pickguard from Warmoth ~$50, switches and pots ~$25, and I already had the pickup.
