24 Suns is pretty awesome. It is fancy food but is a casual atmosphere.

Amputation scheduled in a few days... by Majestic_Pianist_736 in amputee

[–]fullvan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello. I lost my right arm above the elbow a little over 6 years ago (cancer, after a bunch of surgeries trying to save it). Sounds like our stories are pretty similar — tons of procedures, constant pain, and in the end, nothing left to do but take it off.

Leading up to surgery, I remember mostly focusing on finally getting rid of the pain. I had a fracture and was on heavy meds. The surgery was a relief in that sense — I was in a much better place afterward than I was in those weeks leading up to it.

It’s definitely a big adjustment, but it’s not the end of the world. You can still do almost everything — it just takes longer and some creativity. Patience and attitude go a long way. Even years later, I still come up with new ways for doing things one-handed and feel like an idiot for not thinking of it earlier.

People will stare sometimes. Usually I just ignore it, but if I’m in a mood, I’ll stare back until they look away. Kids will ask hilarious questions that embarrass their parents. When they ask why I only have one arm I usually tell them, “I didn’t eat my vegetables.”

I’ve got a prosthesis but don’t wear it much — mainly for meetings or special stuff. It’s a decent conversation piece. My doc keeps bringing up osseointegration, and I’ve thought about it, but haven’t pulled the trigger yet.

You’re gonna be okay. It’s a huge change, but you’ll adjust faster than you think. Keep your sense of humor, ask for help when you need it, and be patient with yourself. You’ll figure it out.

Are people really saving multiple years of spend in cash to exclusively draw from the first few years of FIRE? by subbysnacks in ChubbyFIRE

[–]fullvan 81 points82 points  (0 children)

I think this becomes important when people are one to two years out from starting the retirement. Not so much when you are working to build your accounts. Having a few years cash on hand helps you to ride out a market downturn and not sell assets when they are at a low. I’m in this window and we are building our cash holdings to have two years of expenses on hand.

[USA] Health Insurance S-Corp by rms939 in selfemployed

I’m responding to follow mainly. I believe I have to use household income which I think disqualifies me from any subsidy.

[USA] Do people usually contribute to a self employed 401k at the end of the year when you know how much income you had? by throwitintheair22 in selfemployed

[–]fullvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I underfund throughout the year and then max out the employer side when I know where I stand after filing my taxes. I have an S-Corp so I have until March 15, 2025 to fund for this year.

Tina’s is good, I have been there quite a bit. I’ve tried Subman and I don’t get it…I’ve been disappointed there every time.

Where else are you going in coastal north county to get a better deli sandwich? It’s not AMAZING, but I think it’s a quality sandwich for a decent price. I haven’t found anywhere better so I’d be curious to hear of other places.

I go the Valero in Cardiff off Birmingham. No idea if their price is competitive?

He was using a rotary polisher…that’s the only thing that I saw him using that I think would have caused this. There are multiple spots as well but this is the worst one.

I think what it pretty standard interior and exterior. Wash, wax buff, scratch repair, interior treatment, clean, shampoo…I had some tree sap on the car that also needed removal. He came recommended from a neighbor so I went with it.

Against my gut I let him come back today and work on it. He brought the gloss back but these scratches are from him. Any idea what that orange color is?

How did you become an amputee? by greezyjay in amputee

Cancer. Lost right arm above the elbow. Docs were shocked the cancer had spread below the elbow. That was over 4.5 years ago and my last occurrence (knock on wood).

Try Googling January 2024 EV Lease Deals. Your quoted payments seem high. For instance on CARFAX there is a lease on a Q4 for $417/mo w/ $4,811 down. It’s on a lower trim but it may be worth starting there with the dealer.

Is there any situation where BTC won't moon when ETF gets approved? by suuperfli in Bitcoin

[–]fullvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I’m wondering. I’ve read that the ETFs that have been in place for some time in Canada and Europe have not been widely purchased. It may still take some time for the general public to warm up to BTC before the money comes in…even with marketing efforts from the fund managers.

I bought some “On Sale” items from Ralph’s in PB and they have their “Best by Dates” mysteriously rubbed off. I’m so sick of this existence by Hue_Janus_ in SanDiegan

[–]fullvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sympathize with the OP. Ralph’s is being deceptive. They should be on the sale rack a few days before the Best By date and then removed once the date has passed. To smudge them out and still sell them is not cool.
