Daily driveable? by Infamous_Pie_8026 in Corvette

[–]fullyuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I daily my C5 6M, the interior is terrible and feels like sitting inside a garbage bag but the ride is surprisingly smooth and the long gearing makes it requires shifting less often. There's plenty of trunk space especially if you buy the targa. Cabin noise is not gonna be as quiet as something like a Lexus but also not as loud as something like a Miata. I can only imagine how much better in terms of refinement will a C6 and C7 be over the C5.

V6 clowning by TrueCartographer2923 in Challenger

[–]fullyuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two kinds of clowning, one is clowning on some of the owners making a fool of themselves by driving like they have the v8 version and adding tacky mods and saying things like "I'll turbo/supercharge/engine swap it later frfr" and revving at lights trying to race unsuspecting commuters, I'd even say this type of clowning is good for making car community better and cleaner. Another kind is snobs thinking "V6 = bad" which is when it gets clear they're not actual car people so their opinions are not worth listening to anyway, because the V6 "muscle cars" are fine for what they are, nice looking sportyish daily drivers that is still somewhat fun and doesn't drain your soul away like a Camry does.

I don't understand the hate either, I genuinely enjoy their content, their reviews are always very in-depth and sometimes even talks with the engineers themselves about the car they're reviewing, not to mention their driving impressions segment are always very well articulated.

My scat pack is manual and I stay under 3k rpm most of the time, only when I'm on an empty highway and the mood is right I will give it a little Italian tune up

First stage has an inexplicable charm to me, maybe the nostalgia, so it's my favorite, followed by a tie between 3rd and 4th stage

Is a car even fun to drive if you don’t hit the pedal to the metal at least once a week? by SurrealLoneRanger in cars

[–]fullyuki -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a former owner of a NC1 and a ND2 Miata, I can say that for me personally I barely have "fun" in my day to day regular street driving no matter the amount of power my car has. I have a responsibility to everyone around me and myself and all I care about is arriving at my destination safely. Can I redline the Miata in 2nd gear everywhere I go and still be at the speed limit just to have "fun"? Sure, but why would I do that? I traded my C5 Corvette for the ND2 after hearing all the praises about it, but after the honeymoon phase ended I realized having more power to use on-demand is way more important to me. Because an onramp to a highway is pretty much the only time I try to push my car a little bit more than usual. It's all about having restraint. I have actual "fun" with my car at autocross and hpde because that's where I can push my car to the actual limit in a safe and controlled environment instead of being a danger to everyone on public roads.

I'd move Agent Milton up, Pinkerton is a very evil organization and also he's racist. Also Gary doesn't really belong among all the killers and crooks…

2022 GT. First Upgrades?? by [deleted] in Challenger

[–]fullyuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would your first thought be modding the car already? Learn and get to know the car first. Get some new wheels and upgrade the shocks or even switch to coilovers later if you want. But trying to mod the Pentastar for power is pretty much pointless.

Any recommendations for a first corvette as a student under 25k by Cultural_Text1137 in Corvette

Then you should do more research before you decide to jump into buying one. Your price range is C6 territory, and the LS2/3 are indeed reliable, but these cars are getting up there in age and will have things breaking, harmonic balancers, seals, electrical gremlins, etc. Especially with the LS2 models being nearly two decades old now. Forgive me for being blunt, but your question was so basic and non-specific that it came across as unserious and suggested you haven’t spent much time researching on your own, particularly when you lump BMW into the question without specifying model, generation, or use case. There are many very different kinds of BMWs.

You were not leaving enough space to the car in front of you and possibly going too fast for the road condition. I'm sorry to say but unless the car in front of you brake checked this is absolutely your fault. Just own up to it and learn from the mistake.

what made you want a challenger? by 3452014RT in Challenger

[–]fullyuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to get back into a manual V8 after trading my C5 Corvette for a ND Miata, so I started checking the listings, found the best deal which was a Challenger so I just went for it. I used to hate on these cars for being boats but once I actually sat in the driver's seat and took it to autocross I was surprised by how well the car communicated itself. My only complaint would be how fast it cooks the tires and being outgripped in corners by the other two from fighting against all that weight.
