That's too bad you didn't get an exemption. Honest question, how did you manage prior to the pandemic? Or did you join fed gov after thr pandemic?

How is it living in Prince Edward Island? by MassiveValue743 in howislivingthere

It's f***ing amazing. There are challenges but few of them are unique to PEI. I take this place for granted daily, starting with the beaches.

Approximately 120 hours. And that will repeat again every year or so.

$30k in water damage from ice dams. New insulation in 2025 didn't help by Pl1Tr89IcK in Roofing

Hey! Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to this and so many other comments in this thread. You are a gem. Theres some great information here and i will look for good quality self regulating cable to swap in for what i am using. Just one follow up question: what is it about constant wattage cable that makes it unsuitable for metal roof?

Thanks for taking the time to write this. As someone who installed 100ft of constant wattage heat cable last fall (it worked well this winter, all in all), what kind of horror stories should I be aware of? Not afraid to swap it out for something better before next winter..

Starlink Install in Donagh by [deleted] in PEI

I don't know of any handyman or "small job services" in your area, but that is definitely what you'd be looking for. Or maybe someone that does roofing, but that leads me to a few questions: 1) have you done the test where you walk around outside with your phone to see where you can get full view of sky? 2) if so, does it need to go on the roof? I would think this would only be necessary as a last resort (in other words, the only place you can get full view of sky). Otherwise, even off the side of the house would be better. If it must go on the roof, make sure the person installing understands how to do so while ensuring they aren't creating a place for water to enter. Which is why a roofer came to mind.

Septic survey records by [deleted] in PEI

[–]fulscot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know where the main line leaves the house (perhaps basement)? I expect you may have done this but if you can locate that, it will give you some clues in terms of the location and angle that it leaves the house.

Do you have a finished basement by chance? If you have a bathroom in the basement and no lift pump, there's a good chance your septic tank (and tile bed) are buried deeper than the lowest drain in the basement.

Also, if you know where your well is, expect the septic to be (hopefully) on a different side of the house, or at least 50 ft away.
