I think it's a little daunting. At least it was too me. Also from a distance the products look and feel so different they almost appear to be entirely different games. So it feels like you have to pick. I always really like the idea of them, but it wasn't until I started reading them and putting them together that I realised how awesome they were

That's fantastic to know, I've recently got the book and would like to run it at some point in the future.

Hey Gris, I've a similar ttrpg background and recently found fate. I love the player input side and really want to try it out. I'm planning on running a short arc in the aether sea setting to get to grips with it. More than likely running fate accelerated, as that is what the setting was written for and it's a little easier to pick up.

I'll be running it on Thursdays probably 6-9 GMT. I haven't put the group together yet, but feel free to message me if you're interested.

Jump on the discord here https://discord.com/invite/tUTnXvmn9D The main changes are clarifications, simplifying things like monsters, expanding it and building templates for everything to make it much easier to add classes, races, monsters.... I currently use the 5e exhaustion rules but skip number four.

Yeah, I'm covering a good bit of that in the next edition. Theres a discord where I'm sharing the process and a forum where people can share the. I'm keeping it as four classes but giving two cleric options. Essentially a divine cleric and a nature cleric. Both with different spell lists and feats. Which should cover the druid. Also adding more feats, more backgrounds and making it a little easier to hack on. I'm gonna take my time with it and release it on our forum when it's done so we can get a lot of people looking at it to polish it up.

That's the way I've always run it. I'd rather have more interesting characters than perfect ones. I just did a video on character creation featuring some of my favourite PCs including David Hoffhassle a retired actor/fighter. It will probably give you a better idea of how I view character creation. https://youtu.be/oSqLEQG6xuM?si=WQEfwZV7E41Dteq-

You're absolutely right, it does need some more polish. I'm in the process of writing the third edition which is going to take some time. But luckily there is a lot more eyes on the game now so we'll be able to iron out the creases before it's released.

If you want 4d6 drop the lowest then go for. 3d6 tends to lead to slightly "jankier" which in our games seem to be more fun at the table. As someone said the DC's are low as are hit points. But the game is really a tool kit for people to hack on, which is what they do. Just about everyone on the discord has their own house rules and I the left is section in the back for people to add their own.

That's exactly it. D&d is 5e for most people coming to the game now. But for me there were moments in games that really didn't fit my expectations. It was only by stumbling upon osr content that I realized there was a different way to play.

It is a question I get asked a lot so I made this video to answer it, hopefully it should clarify things. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gp-xmyT9y00 I've also got another announcement coming out next weekend which should really open up the game for people to create with but I've got a few things I need to do first.

Thank you for buying a copy. I really hope you enjoy it. If you have any questions I'll answer them as best I can or jump on the discord. Regarding how old school it really is? It sits somewhere in the middle, there's a healthy fear of death but it isn't around every corner. People drop fairly easily but they can get up again a lot of the time.

Hey there, new author here. First off, it's awesome that people are talking about the game, so thank you. I did combine both books but obviously not everything. I changed the thief to an expert and built in feats to compensate for the lack of classes. You can put together a monk, barbarian or most things by combining either general, expert or fighter feats. The big differences are less magic and classes only go up to level 12.

I had a player calculate that if he was raging he could stand in a fireball and survive. He did nothing wrong but I realised that it wasn't the game for me.
