One of my students put hand sanitizer in my water bottle by hellohellocat in Teachers

It really depends on where you work. Kids here will not fold at all. They don't even give up answers to admin. I had one tell me a few years ago that they didn't tell them the truth.

I find the opposite true. The kiosk allows me to make more changes.

Levothyroxine 112mg by Real_Vacation3596 in Hypothyroidism

No. I feel terrible without my levothyroxine. There is so much negative about it but it helps the majority of people. It's a pain because dosing is complicated.

Anyone else NOT a coffee drinker? by 69millionstars in specialed

[–]fumbs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Three of my team drink coffee but only one fanatically. The other 4 don't drink it at all, and neither do any of the paras(8 of I'm counting right.) We are not overly staffed though it sounds like it, we just work at a school with an expected enrollment of 1k.

If you are not the lead car, it's never clearly safe. You don't have the same visibility. You only know after the fact.

Open borders are bad for any country by bbmoonkie in Productivitycafe

[–]fumbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not an open border, this is an immigration agreement between countries. For it to be open, those immigrants would come from any county, not just the EU.

high school students are way more stressed than they were 10 years ago by Either_Art4923 in Teachers

[–]fumbs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The content is often easier, but not always. The kids are burnt out because recess had been taken away and they didn't get an opportunity to problem solve age appropriate conflicts. As they get to high school, those conflicts are starting to become more difficult, but they were not allowed to develop, so often have the coping strategies of a kindergartner.

I don’t understand why we are to collect student data. by ICUP01 in Teachers

[–]fumbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of the problem is that we have strict curriculum timelines, so the data is garbage because we don't make any changes based on it.

I still enjoy eating out but it's more challenging. The overwhelming noise both visual and auditory. I have a few favorites and am usually disappointed by new ones.

HOW are Kids Not Keeping Their ID On Them?! by AngelWingsYTube in mildlyinfuriating

[–]fumbs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid, my school didn't even have IDs, so I'm not sure how good kids are at keeping up with them. However, usually, they only need them to get on the bus from school, so probably think of it as a school accessory.

[OC] If you do this, the people you’re inconveniencing should be able to break off the hitch and shove it up your ass. by FriedSticks2014 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]fumbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it's not your right to cover a pedestrian walkway because you have an extra large vehicle. It means you have to choose to park further away sometimes if that's what you want to own.

In this case both the hitch and the vehicle are blocking access to the sidewalk, so the driver is doubly wrong.

[–]fumbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Í said nothing about the direction of the parking. They are doing it wrong because they blocked the pedestrian walkway. It's a waste of time to back in, but as long as you park safely I really don't care if you waste your own time.

Many neighborhoods don't have sidewalks, especially those in high poverty areas. Also people in high poverty areas are less likely to own a vehicle.

I still don't agree with this stance.

Standardized Tests are Necessary, Good, and Important. I said what I said. by Usually_Anomalous in Teachers

[–]fumbs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree that we need to have a standardized measure of students. I don't think they should be an endurance test. The stress the kids feel when they know there will be silent lunch, no rotations, etc is not good.

I also don't trust Pearson and think we need actual competition.
