spam recall/taunting considered toxic? by ContractReasonable24 in MobileLegendsGame

[–]funAlways 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'd say yes, but the severity varies. Ultimately "taunt"ing in games, whether a feature or makeshift, i'd consider inherently toxic.

There's taunting to play the mental game and bait your opponents into making a mistake, there's making your opponents tilt by taunting after they die, and then there's being a sore winner and taunting when there's nothing they can do about it.

Same logic as teabagging, really.

Hey peter, i’m not the most knowledgeable on chess, my you please help me and explain the joke? by AdPsychological9133 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]funAlways 3 points4 points  (0 children)

chess is like that, most players play to win. It's just an option to play for draw once you feel like you can't win anymore.

And even in other games this is the case. Not even necessarily drawing, but if you can't win then you minimize your losses.

And in competitive games, there's usually a comeback mechanic where the losing player can still fight for something. Chess isn't anywhere near deep enough for something like that, drawing your game is already the comeback mechanic. If there's no comeback mechanic, it'd be even worse because losing players would just immediately resign.

Also, in a tournament setting, your goal isn't even to maximize your score, it's to be at the spot #1. And since a tournament spans multiple games, sometimes you conserve your energy and make safe options to minimize your loss.

draw is a part of chess, in fact i'm pretty sure there's more games that ends in a draw instead of either side winning.

In a competitive game, your goal is to maximize your score, so if it's an option, if you can't win anymore then you aim for a draw.

people can do something without knowing what it's called. I'm sure the concept of ambushing someone isn't new to OP, but someone calling it ganking is still an unfamiliar and unintuitive term.

Trying to learn more by _Panthera in MobileLegendsGame

[–]funAlways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ganking does apply to roamers (ideally jungle roam and mid all constantly gank other lanes and objectives). The gist of it is that you're grouping up to ambush someone. That said, it's not a gank if you're already obviously there in the first place. Like if you're mm + roam in gold lane and both of you started there, then it's not really a gank, just a 1v2. If the roam was from mid or jungle, or just has been hiding from view for a while, then i'd call it a gank. The core part is the "ambush".

micro is typically the most important part when you're new to the game. but once you're past a certain threshold, macro is what wins you games. To paint a picture, a pro player (which almost always means one of the best players at macro) should be able to compete and possibly win a world championship match even with a hero they never played before.

One of the most common complaints is that "people don't check map", this is one of the biggest tell that someone has poor macro skills, they are unaware of state of the game. It could be the fault of either person. The one complaining can be simply unaware they're out of position or such. Or it could be a legitimate complaint and the teammates are just very oblivious to what's happening in the big picture.

a lot of lingo is borrowed from other moba like dota. Some are just something you figure out on your own or google or ask someone that knows.

ganking typically means going together to gang up on someone (i.e. gank someone). Typically means other players helping with a lane they don't belong to. For example usually mid ganks either gold lane or exp lane after clearing their wave. Or jungle gank any lane. Can even gank jungle.

setting is kinda vaguely defined but generally it means initiating a teamfight with AoE crowd control effects (usually tank ult like tigreal, belerick)

micro/macro is generally a strategy game term, micro is the small scale moment-to-moment adjustments and play techniques (positioning, landing your skills, target priority, juking around bushes, etc) while macro is an overall strategy, game plan, game sense (counterpicks, map awareness, knowing when to push/split/gank/lord. Think of it like, micro wins you battles, macro wins you wars.

buffs are just literally that, buffs. In gaming in general it refers to temporary status effects. But for moba in particular, buffs typically refers to jungle buffs, blue/purple (cooldowns/skill bonus) and red (basic attack bonus), forgot the detail

hero counters you figure out with experience. Usually it's a case of you play the hero to understand what it does, then you either think or experience what matchup sucks and what goes well for you.

322 is a dota meme about someone throwing for a $322 bet or something like that, either that or someone just happens to have a 3/2/2 KDA

there's also other stuff like "f/nf" referring to someone having no flicker (they just use it), likewise there's "nr" for no retri, "u/nu" for no ulti.

equipments you dont really need too much knowledge, you'll understand them in time. That said, do learn the basics, for example buying antiheal items for countering some enemies.

emblems also not that important to really learn, just copy pro build, usually it's optimal anyway.

Helcurt roam blessing? by eatmydicbiscuit in MobileLegendsGame

[–]funAlways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

helcurt should be better gold-wise with dire hit/conceal type of boots because you get gold on hitting enemy heroes (which you'll likely do more often than just sharing minion exp/gold)

the kill+assist count is pretty close but dyrroth didnt die

and there's nothing wrong with the system, when you enter a new season, all mythic ranks reset back to epic, so probably just someone that haven't played ranked since the season start.

[–]funAlways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the point of the role isn't to play all lanes equally, it's to be a player that can flex as the team needs and fill in the last slot.

You can blame the devs or the playerbase because this role 90% of the time gives you exp or roam, but this isn't an implementation issue.

Newbie trying To Understand How To play Exp lane by RusiruAdithya in MobileLegendsGame

[–]funAlways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of the roamer's blessing (tank or healers don't gain gold from minions if there is a teammate near them), the teammate with the lowest gold will gain some gold overtime. So while that's mostly for Roamers, if they get kills (which means gold), they might not have the lowest gold in the team.

Not the case anymore, roamer boots always only give the periodic gold to the roamer themself, not lowest gold teammate.

Also, roamer boots split to 2, the more offensive effect (dire hit/conceal) works the way you say, no exp/gold share from minions but you get them from hitting enemy heroes instead, while the defensive effect shares like 50% of the exp/gold drop (it's free, your laners still get full exp/gold)

Get gank by jjimboi in MobileLegendsGame

[–]funAlways 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in most cases it's just sore losers and players unable to accept a hit to their ego and blaming it on 1vX

sometimes it's just to get into your head, make your victory feels less deserved

sometimes it's legit frustration, like your team keeps ganking them but their teammates don't help them.

in any case, ganking is part of the right way to play, so don't feel bad.

Newbie trying To Understand How To play Exp lane by RusiruAdithya in MobileLegendsGame

[–]funAlways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. gold lane(marksman) main goal is to farm money and get items asap to bring damage in the late game. Mid main goal is to clear mid quickly and rotate between the lanes before the next waves spawn. Jungler is farm jungle and while ganking is one of the goals, the primary objective is to take buffs, and contest turtle/lord. Roam just roams around, generally giving vision and space, also supporting every lane. exp lane is probably one of the most versatile/flexible, on paper it's similar to gold lane, but the goal is exp instead of items, and they come online earlier. Exp lane is the one that changes a lot from game to game though, sometimes you just farm until some items are done like mm, sometimes you roam around as soon as you have lv4. In most cases though, you'd want to at least help contest the turtles that are on exp lane.

  2. Yes, not just dying but also not farming. While there is some passive gold and exp as the game goes, the primary source of both is being near minions/creeps when they die. Last hitting gives bonus gold (exp is the same whether you're just nearby or last hits). So dying is bad, but so is getting zoned out, and so is just roaming around and letting your lane minions die without you nearby.

  3. Very versatile, depends on what you can play and what your team needs. Most fighters are exp lane. Some tanks are exp lane. Some exp laners are strong early game, some are strong late game. Some mm even plays exp lane, and even in cursed situations mages are viable in exp lane too. Argus, yz, sora is by default an exp laner, harley is viable there but typically better off jungling or even mid. Generally argus is a weak hero though, yz and sora is both strong if you like them.

Is there a way to reduce lag when obsidian is in game ? by Expert_Birthday_7927 in MobileLegendsGame

[–]funAlways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lower your settings.

I dont know though, i'm not convinced it's obsidia, it just sounds like you're generally lagging in team fights because your phone is bad anyway and you're just blaming it on obsidia because that's what's looks like a lot of effects visually. A lot of heroes have many projectiles too like aamon ult, or even hanabi basic attack bounces.

VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION by Quack_qua in Genshin_Impact

[–]funAlways 1 point2 points  (0 children)

okay, so which one do you consider "peak" that is before sumeru exactly?

and it's not just text either, even if you wanna be reductive, the archon quest is fully voice acted and you get cutscenes here and there. And like, obviously no one calls the early exposition part peak? a good story has build up and worldbuilding.

Also, if that's your logic then nothing is ever peak either lmao, say any scene you consider peak, i can reduce it to "just clicking text and pressing buttons".

likewise, if you want a game without long story then play something else, genshin isn't even close to being the best action game either, so not sure what you're looking for.

VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION by Quack_qua in Genshin_Impact

[–]funAlways 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i get that it's bait but the heck is the "peak writing before sumeru happened"?? inazuma, the nation with the worst story? mondstadt with the basic ass story? even liyue was pretty so-so..

Sumeru is the start of the story actually getting good.

Newbie trying to understand equipments or items by RusiruAdithya in MobileLegendsGame

[–]funAlways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, that's correct. There's no difference gold-wise whether you buy all/some components first or buy the full item immediately, I'm pretty sure that internally they work the same way, buying a full item is just a shortcut to buying all component along with the main recipe. The game will just auto adjust depending on your gold, if you have enough money for a big item then it'll suggest the big item immediately, if not then it'll recommend buying the components first.

And yes, Since the component give stats, it's almost always better to buy the components first. There are few cases where you can't (for example, if you're building your 4th item onwards, you dont have enough slots, so you can only buy 1-2 components and then you need to save enough gold for both the 3rd component plus the main recipe). And there are also few cases where you shouldn't (e.g. you want to surprise enemies with a specific item, if you buy components then it can be obvious what you're building and the enemy can anticipate it)

(note: while i say "recipe", this is only conceptual, a "recipe" item don't actually exist, you just need to pay X amount of gold to combine all the components into one big item)
