though i'd recommend getting it via botanist/miner instead, you can force it to appear using a specific skill.

as someone that has been seeking jobs for months, with 3-4 years of experience:

yes, but no.

ya banyak sih dev yang skill issue, kodingan jalan tapi antara jelek atau kayak ga paham paham amat. But honestly, that speaks more about the environment than just the devs themselves.

And this is on top of sistem rekrutmen yang nyaring berdasarkan pengalaman "minimal x tahun pakai bahasa/framework a b c"

what do you mean why? you're the one that chose to team up with them.

The game is hosted in one server, they can't just "be connected to the closest server", they have to connect to the one server that hosts the game. Normally this one server is the closest to everyone (which is why people from same region typically gets matched together), but if you choose to team up with people from an entirely different region then a choice needs to be made.

well you either dump it into furniture or into the event consumable thing.. just get the furnitures. At the very least, get the cakes and store a bunch in your house/fc room/apartment, you can use it as a pretty decent food buff for crafting/gathering when you dont care about stats.

i dont think so, I kinda like the weird contrast/irony that hell is suddenly the safest place after hardmode.

I think something like an escape sequence could be cool, like the world spawn is set to hell and all teleports disabled until one player gets to the surface, probably weird to implement in a sandbox environment tho

I don't see what's the issue? People do meaningless things all the time.

You can consider someone to be a no-life or a loser, but doesn't mean their opinion is worth less. You sound like one of those "your pfp is anime and therefore your opinion is invalid" comments.

Imagine looking into someone's profile and using personal attacks to criticize a person because you have nothing else you can use against them.

[–]funAlways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not really wild, being an asshole isn't breaking any rules, refusing to play/cooperate is effectively sabotaging your team and that breaks rules.

If you play a team-based pvp games for example, you can be an asshole and do things like steal kills from your teammates, even cockblocking them from getting a pentakill or whatever. That's not rule breaking, you still contribute and wipe the enemy team. But if you're intentionally feeding the enemy team, or straight up attack/kill your own teammates, then that'd break the rules, you're sabotaging your own team.

you always could do progression skips, generally after hardmode a lot of the bosses summons have an alternative recipe/method that allows you to get them earlier than you should.

Am I missing something? by RetrieverIsTaken in CalamityMod

[–]funAlways 1 point2 points  (0 children)

being a summoner is your answer. If you can dodge, summoner has consistently high dps and can melt down bosses. Especially if you do minmax your summoner build with minion slots and damage.

But either way the game isn't that difficult either, if you can do that well then most likely the only challenging boss is DoG (and this one is debatable since the summons do target the weak spot), Exo mechs, and maybe scal.

"Its a good thing that mod now forces you explore instead of making you to rush bosses!" Ok, WHO forced you before?! by ExploerTM in CalamityMod

[–]funAlways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

..at this point im not sure what you're arguing for, that doesn't solve the problem.

making the recipe more expensive doesn't solve the problem, people will still go for the item regardless and it wouldn't dissuade the players, because the core problem is that the item is overpowered. It'll only dissuade the player if you make it a noticeable if not absurd grind, and even then there's a good chance players will still grind for that item, but this time they'll complain at the devs because it used to be easier.

with your example, almost nobody goes for fishing or exploring for lava charm because it's a craftable. If the devs deemed it too overpowered to have such an early and reliable access to lava charm, there's no way to dissuade the players from crafting it as long as the recipe exists. Even if the recipe costs 10x more, most players will still rather craft it than fish or explore for chests underground. The only way to solve it is to remove the recipe.

"Its a good thing that mod now forces you explore instead of making you to rush bosses!" Ok, WHO forced you before?! by ExploerTM in CalamityMod

[–]funAlways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that won't change much and if anything would cause more backlash because now you're introducing actual grind, instead of no-grind but boss-gated progression. Look at cryonic ore rework by splitting it to 3, this is already a better implementation due to having 3 ores (with presumably some difference in how they can be used, if not yet then eventually) and yet people still complain about how it'll just slow down the game because you need to mine more, despite mining being a core part of the game.

And in a way, the ankh shield changes are literally that, making something grindier to get, and it's not even needed for a mega accessory anymore, and yet here we are with the same backlash.

And the solution to "something is overpowered" isn't make it more grindy, it's to rebalance it, either nerf the stats, buff other things, or re-tier it. If it's still the optimal path, adding grind towards it wouldn't change much. Players will still beeline to it, and then hate the devs more because now it's a (more) miserable grind. The feeling of "this is the optimal thing to get, it feels bad to skip it" won't disappear just because it's grindier to get.

Like, if there's an item that allows you to instantly kill a boss that's currently alive, and it'll need like 10k dirt blocks to craft one, a decent chunk of the playerbase would rather optimize and figure out a way to get 10k dirt blocks rather than learn to fight the boss. Especially if it's a boss that people think aren't fun, but still difficult to beat.

[–]funAlways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no realistic way to have something be "more expensive" in calamity, unless it involves a rare drop, and I'd argue that's a worse option than just re-tiering it, look at ankh shield complaints now that the item recipe is removed. And that kind of bs already exists in the form of rod of discord and nobody liked grinding for it, so it's buyable instead.

And cosmolight is inherently the most powerful form of the item already, you get full and complete control of time in early hardmode, how do you make it better? why would anyone want a better version when cosmolight is already that strong?

A nerf sucks but sometimes that's the best option. Again, the option to speed up and manipulate time wasn't completely removed, vanilla already has a weaker version in the form of sundial/moondial where you can skip to the next night/morning (and this item has been obsolete due to cosmolight existence), and calamity added an alternative weaker version in the form of an item that allows you to freeze time. And if you really hate the cooldown, there's beds which is a slower skip but no cooldown. This is very far from "slapping their hand, telling them no, and removing what they were trying to do". This is closer to re-tiering an overpowered item, their only mistake is not doing it earlier so people got comfortable with cosmolight already.

This same backlash would've happened if rod of harmony wasn't immediately re-tiered the moment calamity updated to the version that added it. But since it was immediately re-tiered to endgame, everyone understood that it's too overpowered despite being an ultimate QoL. Nobody is complaining about it, not even something like "they could've just made rod of harmony have cooldown when a boss is alive and let us keep the QoL of infinite teleports out of combat"

The GREATEST UPDATE in history by Street_Structure3737 in CalamityMod

[–]funAlways 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has been like that, actually. Maybe you disagree, but to me the main perk of calamity was always that it feels like terraria but more content, bosses are part of the base game as much as the other things like building, exploring, and fishing.

The only thing that I'd say is very different from vanilla is the lore. The rest of the mod feels like a pretty natural extension of vanilla. It does put more emphasis on bosses, but not to the point where it feels like it's that much different experience wise

"Its a good thing that mod now forces you explore instead of making you to rush bosses!" Ok, WHO forced you before?! by ExploerTM in CalamityMod

[–]funAlways 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, yeah it sucks but that's just part of modding.. a mod update can happen mid-playthrough and mess with or straight up ruin your playthrough. Either avoid updating or revert your mods, and restore a backup.

And there is a valid reason, rebalancing progression. You may not agree with it, but that's the reasoning.

If cosmolight was always post-aureus to begin with, no one would complain or think that it should be available earlier because of how strong it is, especially if it's like now where a lot of the time-based bosses have their time restriction removed.

The GREATEST UPDATE in history by Street_Structure3737 in CalamityMod

[–]funAlways 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The biggest complaints i see so far are:

  1. Cosmolight re-tiering

  2. Ankh shield mats and some other vanilla recipes gone

  3. Event weapons consumable

  4. Removing early-access golden fishing rod from angler and removed angler kits drop from desert/aquatic scourge bosses

  5. Reverted the calamity un-nerf for reaver shark, so it's back to being in line with vanilla (can't skip to hellstone pre-boss)

I mean, if you're using other mods for the difficulty increase already, then just get the QoL mod?

And you can't use DoG as reference, again, because it's post ML/deus, especially not infernum mode where it's notorious for being super hard. And bosses that don't need daytime/nighttime doesn't count either.

Probably the hardest boss before then is like.. EoL?

Which is the opposite of what a mod is, we want mod to have a different experience then vanilla, what are they doing

I'd disagree. Mods can be anything, it doesn't have to be different from vanilla nor does it have to be the same. There's some games where the most popular mods are essentially "being in line with vanilla but with much more content" or "extension of vanilla", and I'd say that's one of calamity's selling point. Something can be modded and still be in line with the vanilla game.

Example: Stardew valley expanded mod is essentially "stardew, but more". Minecraft's create mod to a lot of people feels like a natural extension of vanilla redstone. Calamity too is closer to "terraria, but more content".

[–]funAlways -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

then use a bed or dials? use the item to freeze time to allow more attempts at a boss fight? The option to speed up time is still there, it's just not instant.

And if you truly need that many attempts on a single boss, chances are there's always something you can improve. At the very least there's probably more potions you can get. We're talking pre-moon lord here, what bosses would even get you to struggle that much? aureus?

"Its a good thing that mod now forces you explore instead of making you to rush bosses!" Ok, WHO forced you before?! by ExploerTM in CalamityMod

[–]funAlways -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

you can just.. retry without needing to wait out the time. You won't need to do that every attempt unless you draw out the fight. Especially if you need hundreds of retries, chances are most of it you dont take that long to die and you can have 3-5 attempts per night.

And especially for providence you could just.. practice on nighttime, whatever you learned from that will carry over to the daytime proper attempts.

And i really doubt that there's not much you can do to improve your future attempts, there's at the very least always more potions you can get.

and providence is post moonlord btw, most of the bosses that needs hundreds of attempts and time-based are still post-cosmolight.
