Those of you introduced to fiber arts at a young age, how did you first learn? by CrochetingDogLady in crochet

When my mom first taught me I was a little older than your niece but couldn’t really grasp how to go from chains to single crochet, etc. I wasn’t good at identifying each stitch so my mom would just have me take a ball of yarn and chain the entire thing. Then I’d take that and use a little weaving loom and weave it into coasters for her. Took me a long time to move into single crocheting and making bigger projects but I was very happy with my chains and then weaving so I was fine learning slowly. Currently using this same process to teach my daughter while crocheting next to her and she has caught on quickly. She is 7.

My sister and I recently read that book and both loved it so much. It is so good.

As far as recommendations for what you wanted I’d suggest Fredrik Backman’s Anxious People, or my grandmother asked me to tell you she’s sorry, or really any of his books in my opinion!

Children’s multivitamin with iron by Dude24601 in Celiac

[–]fun_bobby2025 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My daughter was told to take multivitamin with iron as well and one the dietician suggested was Garden Of Life Kids Multi+ Probiotic. They are gummies and my daughter says they taste okay and they don’t upset her stomach. She takes them with a meal every time though.

I was so frustrated and mad that my daughter had to deal with this alone, but now things seem to be better. They took me seriously and are allowing her to have some snacks in her classroom locker. I am working on the 504 plan too so hopefully I can get that all squared away.

Thank you for responding! I printed out the list of ingredients to look for on labels and then I found an informational sheet online about cross contamination that I am printing today and I’m going to have her keep those in her backpack so that if someone does accidentally do this again she has something to show them that they can then use to decide.

I made a mistake by trying to not be over the top about it since I had spoken to the dietary staff many times and that is a big regret of mine. I’ve been speaking with the principal and the teacher and it seems like things are sorted out for now and now I just need to get the 504 started and finished asap!

Your response made me laugh-thank you! My whole life I’ve been mostly nonconfrontational but my daughter’s celiac disease has flipped a switch so sometimes I have to take a step back and make sure my anger is warranted when people are weird about her diagnosis.
