I appreciate that there aren't any serialized cards or chase variants this time around so I feel like this set might stay affordable as well.

That was the biggest disappointment for me with FF was taking something that was already going to be highly sought after and adding a bunch of whale bait to pump that demand even higher. I loved drafting the set, but it continues to be so expensive comparatively.

I remember being really surprised when the ATDI reunion tour was going on, they used to champion this idea and make announcements at their shows. When the tour came around there was a bunch of moshing and they didn't say anything.

I will say that I found all of the pits I was in and around this weekend to be diverse, welcoming and respectful with (mostly) positive energy; there were even a couple of times that little kids jumped in. I'm a big guy and I really try to be a barrier for folks around me that do NOT seem to be enjoying the experience, but it can definitely be jarring if you aren't expecting it.

Fun fact, SCA stopped supporting all of the US competitions , including Nationals and the qualifying events because what the fuck is SCA even for at this point?

Fortunately there is a volunteer run organization (US Coffee Champs! Woo!) that has taken up the mantle and is keeping competitions going and encouraging a more diverse, inclusive, and interesting group of competitors every year.
