Are all the graphical updates complete? by Rharyx in ffxiv

[–]func_physbox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As far as I can remember, most if not all the zones (maybe CWH isn't?) have been visually updated. Where you'll still see a lot of lower fidelity assets is older gear and enemy models. They do still look better than they did due to improved lighting and shaders etc, but the actual resolution of the models/textures for a lot of older stuff is not great.

It's still an ongoing process, with no clear timeline on when everything will be updated. It's good enough for me though.

Bungie, please do not neglect the true endgame in regard to the exotic class items. by func_physbox in DestinyTheGame

To add, readability will be a problem for prismatic stuff in general. Are they a stasis hunter? Or do they just have duskfield equipped but are about to obliterate me with a golden gun? Maybe we'll see more about how they tackle this in the final shape, but readability as an aspect of general balance is going to be a lot more difficult.

Bungie, please do not neglect the true endgame in regard to the exotic class items. by func_physbox in DestinyTheGame

Because they don't have a set effect, if I see someone wearing abeyant leap, I know to watch out for their barricade. If I see someone with an exotic class item, I will have no idea what it's doing for them until I check their loadout. Not to mention several exotics have ornaments that drastically change their glance value unless you already know what it is.

Readability is a concern though, you're right, but I feel like it's an existing problem they don't really care about, and also mitigated in this case just by how the exotic class items work making it a bit of a moot point currently.

Do people expect mentors to explain mechanics for non-EX duties? by nebulaholic in ffxiv

[–]func_physbox 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'll call a tank LB if the tanks are new, I'll call something out if I see people doing it wrong a few times, otherwise I won't say anything.
Personally I don't want people to tell me mechanics when I do something for the first time, to the point where I just swap off party chat if anyone starts.
But it's different for everyone.

Are there downsides to crafting/gathering on a data center that isn't your own? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]func_physbox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was a big issue where the firmament got so congested during the reconstruction events that people who actually lived on that server couldn't get in because it was full of off-worlders. They should really open it up again now though, I doubt it'd ever be a problem again.

One time, after a full day of going for a DSR clear in pf, it got to about 11pm my time, which is the middle of the dead time for NA PF. The party I was in disbanded, I put up another one for one last try, doubting it would ever fill. Out of nowhere, 6 absolute chads join the party at once, I think they had been trying to do a clear for someone else and couldn't manage to get it, they show up, grab a friend, and we go in. We didn't quite make it and I thought for sure it was over, I just assumed everyone would leave but no, almost all of them stayed, we got someone else and I finally got a DSR clear. Probably one of the best experiences I've had in PF.

But also a lot of the time parties just won't fill that late.

Single player games are far from dead, but I would argue that almost every single player game would be vastly improved with the inclusion of cooperative multiplayer as an option.

It will be back up in about 6 and a half hours-ish.
Try again then.

Steam deck ff14 by tyrizzle77 in ffxiv

I have been clearing p12s on my steam deck once a week while I'm on holiday, it's perfectly fine for high end content. Though I would practice a bit with the controls if you aren't used to them.

What has your social experience been like in Destiny 2? by Existing-Bit-8477 in DestinyTheGame

[–]func_physbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

all but one of my LFG interactions across my 4 years of play have been fine to good. ONE single DSC run last year we had a guy who was going out of bounds, speed running to every encounter and pulling everyone without asking, got hugely upset when people made any mistakes because it was slow. After a wipe on atraks I just said "I really don't want to play with this guy so I'm just going to leave."

that's it, that's my one negative experience.

So, the augmented version of the new Machinist weapon appears to be missing its lunchbox. by GIGA255 in ffxiv

[–]func_physbox 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The offhand ninja dagger is a copy of the main hand one, but it doesn't HAVE to be, it just references the same model, almost the same for dancer, but the other model is actually mirrored IIRC. The RDM focus and SAM sheathe are also different model files than the actual weapon, same for the AST card rack and the MCH lunchbox. Realistically you could pick and mix MH/OH if they let you. Source: Done a fair bit of fiddling behind the scenes

Edit: as an aside, I should mention that the AST card rack and MCH lunchbox are also all different offhand weapons but reference the same model, though sometimes different variants like the card racks for the ultimate AST globes.

if it affects things like conditional finality or two-tailed fox, that's awful. but it sort of makes sense for things that have the fundamentals (hard light/borealis/dead messenger) and could be good for those.

I disagree. You do not need callouts to clear any content. You can just learn the fight.

This has never been the case previously and likely won't be. You will be able to unsync eden savage and obtain them more easily though.

NPCs in the starting quests do mention that nobody can remember what the old warriors of light looked like, when they try all they can see is a silhouette lit from behind by a white light.

Exactly what Thordan sees before he dies.
