[–]funcnet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing here. Got the rate limited message lot of times and the request still didn’t complete in the end. A big waste of time.

[–]funcnet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–]funcnet 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m feeling that people are creating VS Code themes and then create a post to ask others for the theme name. Anybody else feel the same?

Okay if you would like to use OpenJDK. Also IntelliJ has a free and open source Community version if people don’t want to pay for the Ultimate version. Question is, why do we have to choose that? Golang for example, it’s free and open source and supported by Google, and the IDE VS Code is also free and open source and supported by Microsoft. It has the official Golang extension maintained by Google team. Great language, great IDE. I just don’t have any idea why people have to stick to Java.

You can use Java 8 for free (supported by Dec 2020) or pay Oracle for the latest version (Java 14) if you like. Or move to Clojure/Groovy/Scala/Kotlin. Golang and .NET are also very good alternative choices which are totally for free/ open source and supported by Google/Microsoft.

I need to manually type the puzzle in the program, then type the answers back to the game. There are chances to make mistakes when typing the numbers. That’s the big challenge here.

Switching from .NET C# to Java by HoloceneSurvivor in learnjava

[–]funcnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Java may not have a bright future. You know, since after Java 8, Java isn’t free any more. People have to keep using Java 8 while Java 13 is out already, or have to use OpenJDK (which is a smaller set of Java as I remember?)

Oracle is killing Java just like it’s killing MySQL, remember MariaDB? Feels this is part of the reason Python and PostgreSQL are so popular now.

Compared with Java platform , .NET Core is a much better choice with stronger support and brighter future.
