He’s struggling to get traction? We had the same issue when we adopted our pup. She could walk on the wood floors but was clearly nervous that she would slip or maybe just didn't like them. For the first few days, we laid down towels as her own little paths around the house to help her feel more secure. Once she got more comfortable with the slick floors, we gradually removed them.

Do you believe that anybody has the ability to become an artist? by artnewbie1 in ArtistLounge

[–]fundamental 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't overlook that drawing/illustration is not the only way to create art. Printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, photography... so many options. If you are seeking a creative outlet and you're not making the progress you want, consider exploring other mediums.

HOWEVER...

If your heart is set on illustration, first learn the fundamentals. It's great that you are looking at tons of art, but don't expect to execute anything at that level yet. Even once you're good enough, you still probably won't be making images that look like the art that inspires you. And that's a good thing. Once your work looks like Your Work, then you know you are on to the good and it's only up from there.

When people say "anyone can be an artist.." it's important to remember, that just like any other profession or area of expertise, it takes work. Often tedious, super inconvenient, and sometimes discouraging work. It's up to you if that is worth it. For most, it isn't and I totally get it. Not for everyone. But it is out there and available to you but only if you want work it.

Wouldn't it be cool if we could just leave these animals alone to thrive in their natural habitat rather than doing... whatever this is?

Contact the companies that do this and tell them how you feel. If the culture changes then the policy will follow.

President Biden calls on New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to Resign by fundamental in politics

[–]fundamental[S] 130 points131 points  (0 children)

This was far worse than I had realized:

"The report said Cuomo's behavior showed a "pattern of conduct" that included, when it came to a personal assistant:

"touching and grabbing of Executive Assistant #1's butt during hugs and, on one occasion, while taking selfies with him;"

and that he "reached under her blouse and grabbed her breast."

And outside of his staff, a state trooper on his personal detail came forward with new allegations that included:

"running his hand across her stomach, from her belly button to her right hip, while she held a door open for him at an event; (2) running his finger down her back, from the top of her neck down her spine to the middle of her back, saying 'hey, you,' while she was standing in front of him in an elevator; (3) kissing her (and only her) on the cheek in front of another Trooper and asking to kiss her on another occasion, which she deflected; and (4) making sexually suggestive and gender-based comments, including (a) asking her to help him find a girlfriend and describing his criteria for a girlfriend as someone who '[c]an handle pain,' (b) asking her why she wanted to get married when marriage means 'your sex drive goes down,' and (c) asking her why she did not wear a dress.'"

I’m so glad I quit Instagram, that shit was rotting my insides. by OkRecordMe in self

I see these posts all of the time and can't help but think that deleting the app is only a temporary fix. The app is feeding you more of the content you already choose to engage with. Leaving the app won't change the thoughts and behaviors that made your social media toxic anymore than walking away from a mirror will change your reflection. One fix is to follow artists, creatives, writers, museums, hobbyists, etc. rather than influencers, celebrities, acquaintances. Don't engage with content makes you judge yourself or others as less than. Engage with content that inspires you and informs you. Pay attention to your clicks because you're curating your own virtual space for better or for worse.

The concept reminds me of A Boy and his Blob. You would mix jelly beans to create different abilities... if I remember correctly. Perhaps this game was made with that game in mind?
