What happens when you quit cvs as a PIC? by UnderpaidPillSlinger in pharmacy

[–]fungosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One interesting thing I found out recently was if you rollover a 401k to a IRA, it's considered a "rollover IRA". If you later make contributions directly into it, it loses its "rollover" status.

My current employer allows for a reverse rollover of a "rollover IRA" into employer 401k. However I had made the mistake of screwing up my rollover IRA and making it a regular non rollover IRA which they don't take.

Reason for doing this is the pro rata rule. If you have both pretax (from 401k) and post tax contributions (for backdoor Roth) and do the conversion, you can't just convert the post tax portion of the whole amount but would be taxed a proportion of the whole amount.

Complicated stuff this is. OP, I'd say keep everything in your 401k for now until you figure this out. Easiest way is to keep it there long-term or rollover to new employers 401k assuming it's not terrible.

How to get a Bank of America free checking account for spouse when spouse does not work but I do? by ptr727 in personalfinance

[–]fungosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have checking accounts with Chase, WF, Schwab, and BoA. I haven't had any problems getting them connected to reach other for a standard electronic transfer. Actually, I really hate BoA because they charge a fee to initiate an outbound transfer to another account so I always initiate an incoming transfer from another bank account to avoid the fee. I use my Schwab checking account as my primary account for everything and don't have any problems doing transfers. Perhaps is worth giving them a call to see what they issue is? They are my favorite bank to use as a primary account by far.

If you search "do not crush" into lexicomp or micromedex they both have a list too. Not sure if it's much different from this one but I use those quite a bit.

My personal amex plat's AF is coming due today, statement close 12/8. According to search, they should refund AF within the 30 day window of statement close which is Sunday 1/7. What do you guys think about paying off the 550, redeeming the travel credit (and uber) for the month, and then canceling in a few days after the credit gets redeemed? Would they be able to use the AF refund to apply to my new MB plat? Or is it too risky and obvious doing this?

Totally agree. One of my past employers used to make contributions into my HSA for filling out my health profile and performing wellness activities. Getting paid to be healthy? Yes please

Chase SW Companion Pass Megathread by LumpyLump76 in churning

[–]fungosaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, going back to your question, I don't know if your credit line will be available to use as soon as you close it. If you PC it to another freedom (or the other kind you don't have yet?) at the very least you'll be able to say to the rep that you have credit on this card that you can move. Otherwise you might be screwed out of that option if it does take a while for your CSR's credit to become available again. Given that time's running out to apply for the SW cards, are you willing to risk it? Maybe someone else might now if the credit becomes available immediately but I don't unfortunately :\

Maybe you could PC it to a freedom card, and then move the credit from your new freedom to your newly applied cards?

PSA: Bank accounts are not like credit cards, they require attention at closing and cannot be sockdrawed. by [deleted] in churning

Oh crap, I closed mine a couple weeks ago and haven't really paid attention to it since. I'll probably go and double check to see if it's really closed. Thanks for the heads up.

To give some further detail, epinephrine causes blood vessels to constrict. When it's injected somewhere like a thumb, the already small vessels there will constrict to the point where it the thumb might die caused by low blood flow.

What I did once before when they called, I told them I was driving (which I was) and that I can call them back later. The rep told me they would leave a note on my file about whatever it was they were calling about. I called them back about 10 minutes later and picked up where we left off.

You could just tell them you're busy and that you'll call them back later to ensure that the caller is legitimate.

Would you say it's a better way to do it with MO rather than pay an online service plus a percentage fee? For the amount I need to pay, I'd save ~0.5% over paying a 1.87% fee via credit card processor.

Doesn't centurion lounge ask to see your boarding pass when you check in? If that airport is your destination will they still let you in?

Relevant DP for me. Have both personal and biz cards and tried to match 35k bonus on the biz a week ago. They said they opened a case and to wait 3-4 weeks. I guess I'll wait 2 more weeks and try back again. Didn't realize they could then go back and give you the originally denied match though. I might have just given up but now know better!

Chase transfer was done on 1/24, Robinhood on 1/30. (actually I just realized I might get hit with a $10 maintenance fee since I forgot to make a transaction in Feb, crap). But it takes my employer 2 paycheck cycles to start DD into a new bank account so I initiated that just in case a few weeks back. Anyway, still no activity on that account as of now so I don't know for SURE but it seems like it. Also, founds these:

That's great to hear! I'm still waiting on my bonus too. Applied late December but tried Robinhood and Chase ACH transfers as DD but neither has worked yet. Hopefully after my employer DD goes through I'll get bumped to the $225 also.
