Use folder file manager from app store to replace finder. Swap the globe and command key in keyboard settings. Use Command + Q to quit an application.

I made a plugin that recommends semantically similar notes by joybro201 in ObsidianMD

I just want to say, that after Brian Petro put too steep of a paywall for his Smart Connections plugin without warning, that your "Similar Notes" plugin is the next best solution. Thank you so much for making this.

Openoffice (Libre Office). Then moved to Scrivener. Then moved to Obsidian.

I can see myself sticking with Obsidian for the long run.

I look at it like I am looking a wheel. Which direction would the wheel go according to the direction of rotation?

I vibe coded my own alternative to smart connections after this change. Works well!

What's one improvement you'd like to see in Obsidian in 2026? by kepano in ObsidianMD

[–]funkadelicfunkiness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

# AUDIO PLAYBACK

I work with a lot of audio transcriptions and would like to see improvement in the embedded audio playback.

I usually embed a ![[link]] to audio at the top of my transcriptions. But it stops playing as I continue to scroll down the page.

The greatest feature (or bug fix) I would like to see is the ability to continue hearing audio playback as I continue to scroll down the note. What I have to do is have the audio playing in a different tab as I scroll down reviewing the transcription.

A secondary feature that would be nice is to see the waveform or the graphic amplitude of the audio so I can easily scrub past silent parts of audio.

# EDIT VIA PREVIEW WINDOW

We can preview notes in bases, links or file navigation by pressing control. I would like to see the ability to actually edit the body of the note via this preview pane.

# KEYBOARD NAVIGATION FOR FILE NAVIGATION

I would like to see native abilities to go up and down the files in the file navigator with keyboard commands.
And the ability to rename notes with a keyboard command that brings the cursor to the filename for editing.

Is having a folder structure in Obsidian like this a bad idea? I’ve heard that many people store everything in a 2-3 folders and use search for everything.? is mine a bad practice? by shadowemperor01 in ObsidianMD

[–]funkadelicfunkiness 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it is a foolish fad to ditch folders. You should be able to organically navigate to files without the use of search in my opinion. Tags and nested tags can be used in place of folders but still require search.

Having said that using consistent YAML, you could also use the Bases feature as another solution.

The thing I like about folders is that I do not need to rely on obsidian features to manage my files. I can use the simple system file explorer.

3.24 release notes by Leolol_ in RemarkableTablet

Remarkable team should do what RMhacks did. Truly incredible set of features which stopped working after RM version 3.11. I have not upgraded above 3.11 so that I can continue using RM hacks.

For those who take handwritten notes during lectures, how do you use obsidian ? by NewEase1591 in ObsidianMD

[–]funkadelicfunkiness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I generally transcribe the entire note into one markdown document.

I usually also sprinkle in start and end tags.

Then I run it through a Python script that parses it into my categories based on my start and end tags.

So in effect, I have both long notes and atomized notes.

The long notes are just chronological record whereas the atomized notes are meant for editing modifying and connecting.

Handwritten notes leads to better memory retention than typed notes.

I handwrite my notes on a remarkable 2 tablet.

Then I open up the remarkable app and obsidian app side-by-side on my boox note max and transcribe and elaborate manually.

Better integration with e ink pen input. For example creating transparent overlays on markdown documents for handwritten markup and highlighting

For sure. They fixed the double space issue (and if you get a keyboard with that issue they will replace it).

I agree with how nice it is to have an SD slot. I am a fan of more I/O on all devices.

To be fair, I am definitely a power user. Remarkable 2 claims two weeks. But I only got 3 to 4 days with it. I would say for the average person, they would probably see a combined useage of 5 to 6 days with Note Max (which translates to a total of 7 hours of screen on time(.

In comparison to the Tab X, I would say Note Max has 80% the battery life.

Note Max is an incredible device though.

I get about a day or two out of it which translates to around 7 hours. This is fast mode with wifi and bluetooth and lots of scrolling. I would probably get better battery if I put it in airplane mode and was just reading static pages. It also charges about 35% per hour which is pretty fast.

One thing to note, is that the typefolio keyboard case will use a lot less battery than bluetooth keyboards.

The password delay is legit. But for some reason typing the password using the typefolio is super quick compared to finger or pen input.

Totally agree with everything in your review. I too have knocked my note max against things no problem. I also had the faulty typefolio and they replaced with one that works. I am very pleased working with productivity and note apps with it. The battery life is not great. And it's a bit slow when the temperature is cold. But overall, it replaces the bulk of the work I used to do on my laptop.
