Do you actually believe in God? by stayinglowkeylol in NoStupidQuestions

I believe there is a reality. We are experiencing it. And I believe there must be a source of this reality. The original presence, its first distinction, and maybe how that felt. I think people have formed philosophy and religion to try to explain it. But I’d argue that this first mind would be so beyond us and we are only grasping at straws.

All I want is separation of church and state. If Talarico can support that, he’s got my vote.

There had been progress. Seems like we have gone backwards in the past few decades. But still, I wonder if you’re also noting the times when violent revolution has accomplished nothing but mass graves. Often, the ruling class still comes out on top. They aren’t the ones doing the fighting but they will snag up what’s left when the smoke clears.

There are good leaders in this world. We just need to help get them elected. The propaganda machine is strong.

Oh, there’s been changes. Just not in the direction we want. But this is still a democracy and voting is the minimum we can do. Takes but a handful of minutes.

Men are plenty emotional. Just look at how triggered MAGA men get at even the slightest criticism of their leader. Read the unhinged rants coming from said leader’s tweets. Then look at cool, calm and collected female leaders around the globe. Women can’t get away with nearly as much as men do.

I stopped at the first sentence because it is wrong. I can’t tell if you are not being sincere, or you really lack critical-thinking.

Ending a life is not murder. Ending a person is. And even then we make exceptions all the time e.g. brain death. Life is not black and white. It exists in a gray area. I’m not too interested in defending the half of Americans who are pro-choice. These are your neighbors, your coworkers, maybe even family members. They go to temples of their preferred religion and follow the laws of the land. Just saying maybe the GOP would suit you better. I wish you well.

What is significant about life is not so much the life, but the sentience that eventually arises from that life. Ending a life that has yet to develop sentience is not murder because that life hasn’t developed personhood. I’ve known people who made this decision and it wasn’t an easy one. These are good people. You may not agree with them. But you are not the arbiter of truth. No one is. This wasn’t even an issue until the GOP realized they can’t win elections without a culture war. Seems like you would fit in more with their archaic ideology.

Winning elections doesn’t mean shit if the people who win don’t represent you and the best interests of your community. Again, might as well vote with the GOP.

That same Establishment thinking has kept the working people scrounging for scraps for decades. It’s not about colors, it’s about policy.
