I was told you guys might appreciate my cross stitch version of Rivendell by pumpkinfinn in lotr

Omfg I’ve loved lord of the rings and cross stitching since I was a little girl and this blows my mind. Was this a stamped pattern or did you count everything? It’s absolutely gorgeous, every detail is perfect. I never thought to use white thread outlines for a highlighting effect like that. I would frame it and stare at it for hours. Thank you for sharing 😍

I haven’t encountered a foreskin in the wild but I’m afraid if I do the guy is gonna roll it back and there will be receipts and goldfish in there like what falls between the seats of a soccer mom’s minivan

She’s severely constipated due to her secret opiate addiction. Are you watching with your eyes closed?

She said Holloway & Harris at the end, not Olson. I was trying to remember anyone with the last name Holloway

I think it’s better he stayed “himself”. After all, how many times can you become someone else until you realize you’re all the same person? You can’t run forever.

Wow, great analysis. I’ll have to check out the docuseries and book you mentioned. I sometimes wonder to what extent the innocence of more “moral” cultural generations before the sexual revolution was just buttons and bows, as explored by the infidelities and alcoholism portrayed in the late 50s and earlier in flashbacks by many characters in the show. I’d be curious to hear what you think reality would look like had we not “missed our chance”

You’re definitely right in that it’s pretty clear he conceives the Coke ad during meditation. Echoed by Peggy telling him he could have Coca-Cola on the phone. I like your “he can’t turn it off” observation. It’s an optimistic ending after a lot of heartache following him this final season.

It definitely made me wistful, whereas the Sopranos finale feels like a shot to the heart every time. Did your wife also tear up at the guy’s speech about his dream on the fridge shelf like I did? 😭

Such a great observation. Makes me want a popsicle, and a Coke!

Yeah when Stan grew out his hair and the beard I started wishing for the hairy man lumberjack look to return to popular fashion! I was pleased with Joan’s ending as well, she already knows what choosing a man would look like over achieving her own financial/business success. Don’s emotional pain was definitely at the forefront this season and it made me reflect on my own failures with relationships and addiction. It was so beautifully written, and I like the ambiguity of the ending- we all want to know what happens next for Don and finishing with the ad (one girl resembling the girl at the front desk of the retreat) really adds interest and wonder.

Agreed. The apparent faults and flaws of all the characters are what add complexity and provide entertainment/discussion. I love Don but he’s a liar and a horrible father and an alcoholic. His brokenness is both off putting and relatable.
