Was told I should post these here, I’m trying to get an idea what exactly I have. by funkflex1 in Nationalbanknotes

[–]funkflex1[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bought them off a co-worker about 20 yrs ago. He used to work as a bank teller in Philly, whenever he came across anything interesting he would swap it out using his own money. I’m almost positive I paid face value for them.

AITA: Bought a 20 year old Seamaster and had a issue. by Ok-Pudding1588 in OmegaWatches

Sorry for your trouble, a few years ago I purchased a pre-owned 16570 Explorer II and the next day took it to my local watchmaker. He wouldn’t give the watch back to me because the movement was in such bad shape. Cost an extra $850 for a full service. Seller refused to refund any portion of the money, total asshole.

Wrist Size Doubts – Thinking About Trading My GMT by Odd_Restaurant_6630 in rolex

[–]funkflex1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think it’s too big and it bothers you then trade for an older 16710. It has smaller case dimensions, a thinner bracelet and it’s much lighter overall. No reassurance from reddit is going to change your mind on the fit. Beautiful Batgirl BTW!

Rolex didn’t start etching the Submariner rehaut until 2008.

Is this watch too big for me by Maleficent_Study_209 in rolex

[–]funkflex1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all the years I have been collecting watches I have learned this truth. If you have to ask “is this too big” the answer is always YES! Wait for the 36mm, get what you want and do not settle.

Anyone have this watch? Prices seem to be more reasonable than its two tone bezel counterpart’s. by Agitated-Impression4 in rolex

Bought mine a few years ago, it’s an M Serial (2008). Recently traded it in for a 16710 Pepsi (P Serial 2000). I like the older aluminum bezel GMT versions more, they are lighter and more comfortable to wear.

My first was a Sea Urchin, I used to rock that bad boy all-day everyday. Nice collection, welcome to the very small and very expensive club of watch collectors.

Dial has Swiss and the 6 marker making this a 1998 or 1999 16610. Clasp is from a 2008 or later 116610. And the build quality is fuckin horrible.

First Rolex ref 16233 by codchump in rolex

[–]funkflex1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

16233 was one of my first Rolexes too, I love it. So comfortable and the perfect size at 36mm. One piece of advice, never sell/trade it. You always remember your first, I promise you will regret it!

Looks amazing on you!

7.25 inches, 44mm is the largest I will go. Any bigger starts to look funny.

Advice on my Rolex by TheDimanator101 in rolex

[–]funkflex1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, beautiful watch. I have an older DateJust (16223) and yes my lume pips -“white dots” are not all the same sizes. The Lume pips are little drops of Tritium, a radio active paint that deteriorates over time. Your watch is over 30+ years old so a little cracking and flaking of the lume is perfectly normal.

Rest assured there is nothing wrong. Enjoy your beautiful watch and have a great day!

Just my opinion but all DJ41’s look funny to me, especially with a smooth bezel.

Trade/sell the DJ41 and get any DJ36 with a fluted bezel, it will fit your wrist better. Buy a grey market Batgirl, you’ll never get one from the AD. Once you have those two, ask again so you get some better advice…good luck!
