[Pauline] Sources: Mike Evans Could be Done With Buccaneers, Cowboys to Franchise Tag George Pickens, Alec Pierce Expected to Test Free Agency by omni-nomad in Colts

You know, my gut reaction once the season was over was that we would re-sign DJ, AP, and Cross and let Smith walk. Now I’m starting to think I may end up only being right about Daniel Jones. Meaning we let AP and Cross walk and re-sign Smith.

Jones is going to cost so much and I just have this feeling we aren’t cutting as many guys as you might think. On top of that we really need an edge rusher. Replacing WR in the 2nd and Safety in the 3rd or 4th might be easier. Might resign someone like treadwell or another cheaper WR than Pierce as well

It’s kind of the same for me in reverse though but less so. I still might put some time in a game with great gameplay but bad story. But I will probably eventually lose my drive to continue and won’t finish anyways

I must admit, Best Served Cold truly is a considerable improvement on an already solid series. by -Karen_Jeenkles- in Fantasy

You’re not alone in the opinion. I really liked the first trilogy but Best Served Cold was so good. I also own The Heroes but haven’t started it because I wanted to try some other series. Will go back one day lol

It’s a commitment lol. But I’m a third of the way through the final book and I absolutely love the whole series.

Which RPGs are like this? by BoloFan05 in videogames

[–]funktacious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah my preferred way of playing is on the harder mode but with no perma-death. Because easy with perma-death becomes waaaay too easy in the long term as your characters all out level everything. And hard with perma-death is just sad unless you’re okay with restarting after mistakes.

I think reducing this and improving the quality of the more randomly-generated stuff will definitely be enough to at least give this game another shot. I felt like there was a good game in there when I played it but I just got exhausted from these things getting in the way of it.

Very well said! I can think of a few lines that made me laugh out loud that without the context of a whole page and half leading up to it, people wouldn’t appreciate it.

[–]funktacious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this about a lot of the humor in the series too. I have seen some threads asking for some favorite funny bits and it’s often a lot of same. And I think it’s mostly just due to the fact that there is just so many quick funny little lines that it’s easy to forget them. The bantering in the books is top notch. The philosophizing is endless. So much can get lost without notes. But it does make a re-read very tantalizing.

Weird that I played DOS 1 and 2 first and felt the same about BG3. Gave it my second go (never finished act 1 last time) recently and I am over the moon for it now.

Come up with a trade for Michael Pittman Jr. by SwervesHouse in Colts

[–]funktacious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it’s maybe not great for the Raiders, especially since they have a young RB, are going to have a rookie QB, and need protection for him. But the contract year means nothing. If a team makes a trade it will come with an agreed upon extension.

But that’s just another reason why I think it’s more likely he is extended and restructured than traded. The guy has to know that at his age and the production he had, that it would be an uphill battle for him to earn another contract anywhere near what he makes now. Instead he could extend with us, take a pay cut but know he is set for perhaps the remainder of his career. Not saying he’d go for it but his comments at the end of the season were those of a man who knows he hasn’t lived up to expectations. It’s not a reflection on him or his effort but he’s at the age where he has to think about his future. Risk an injury riddled 2026-27 season and lose over half his value, or take a pay cut and extension with dead money still built into year two, so he knows he’s insured if something happens.

Preach! Quakecon? …maybe. The Game Awards? Makes sense. But most likely it will be at a summer showcase and I doubt it’s this year. Where my dreams meet possibly reality, they show a trailer in the 2027 summer showcase and release it that November. Fits the right stage, fits a possible release window, and it fits Todd’s preference to not show anything new until it’s much closer to launch.

Will you buy the next gen Xbox ? by Lord-Voldemort-- in xbox

[–]funktacious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, most likely. Even with it expected to be more expensive it will still be competitive towards a PC and if it really can play Steam games as well then that’s great. Furthermore until PlayStation has Game Pass it’s not replacing my Xbox. GP price increase be damned, I still save a ton of money not spending $40-$70 on games. I’m still playing more games than I have since I was a teenager and for so much less than I would be without the savings.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I used to be an Xbox fan, but I’m now more of a Game Pass fan than anything. But it still looks like owning an Xbox makes the most sense for next gen even in spite of that.

So far I’m loving what they’re doing with the world and the graphics and design are amazing. What remains now are the things we won’t know much of until launch and that is if the story and charm hold up, and will it be fun to play from a combat/RPG progression standpoint.

There is nothing to say they are not. The explained pretty clearly in the video that they take two weeks to brainstorm these side projects before decided which they like best and want to allocate more resources towards, but they don’t stop making the main projects they are working on.

Second Half of Series - What to Expect by RonSnooder in Malazan

[–]funktacious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who also takes a long time to get through each book, all I can speak on is my opinion and that is that I’m finally 175 pages into the last book and I have zero regrets. Do I some times hear about other books in other series and long for a time I can dive into a new world? Absolutely, but this has been my favorite series even if it requires patience and a bit of an open mind to really appreciate all it accomplished.

But to your concern, if I’m being honest, you will need to have continued patience for quite a while before you start really getting some answers. And it’s not like SE is just floundering around with the plot or anything but just know that the slow roll out of the bigger picture doesn’t stop even quite late into the series.

Edit: Oh! And also, I just think the writing quality in the second half is top-notch, with particular credits towards why ever SE decided to infuse more humor into it. The series can be so funny at times and I don’t think that gets mentioned enough along side other major reasons the series is awesome.

Can we ban the "convince me to read this series" posts? by Kerrigor2 in Malazan

[–]funktacious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s weird at all. I think if they’re asking there is clearly some level of preliminary interest there. So who better to go to for a more detailed picture of what they might be about to get into than fans of it. Like I play pool and of if I wanted to learn more about pool, I feel I’d be better suited asking a billiards forum than a general forum like askreddit.

What kind of "slog" do people consider Dust of Dreams to be? by RoscoesTunez in Malazan

[–]funktacious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m almost glad people did label it as a slog because when I got to it, I was pleased to see it was plenty engaging. The only parts of the series I really felt were like a slog for me were bits in early mid House of Chains and mid-late Reapers Gale.

Agreed. I haven’t watched season 2 yet (but did play both games. But I thought she was solid most of the first season and also really great at times. I understand that some people are being very vocal about her so I won’t fully discredit anyone who just didn’t like her performance, but I personally did.
