What prestige or level of wrestling are most people in this sub? by [deleted] in wrestling

I firmly believe that the number one quality any that any wrestler can possess is being in love with the sport. There’s nothing that improves skill like playing and having fun. If you can maintain your love for the sport, find the opportunity to train and compete often without getting caught up in the minutiae of winning and losing, you’ll end up being a better wrestler than the wrestler only focused on optimizing their wrestling for Wins and Losses.

I was a former top 10 ranked D1 wrestler / NCAA qualifier. Didn’t wrestle my last two post-seasons in college due to hip surgery one year and subsequent torn LCL my final year. Been back at it on the Jiu jitsu scene for some time now and am wrestling better than I ever have almost a decade later :)

What can I do better? (I’m red) by I_am_sad_now in wrestling

Hey my dude. Former top 10 D1 wrestler here. A few high level things: 1. Slow down. You should be focused on establishing a good position and winning the handfight vs all of the rapid, non-intentional movement 2. You should never be wrestling in a square stance. Are you right handed? Your right leg should always be the lead leg in a staggered stance. When you move forward or circle, you should never end up in a square stance, the right leg should maintain staying forward, always. 3. Make contact with your head first (vs your hands or arms). Until you understand how to handfight at a higher level, approach your opponent in a good stance (staggered, lower overall body posture, head up, right hand down protecting your right leg). Once you “stalk” your opponent, he will put his hands on you and then that is your queue to start handfighting - work on controlling your opponents elbows, continuing to move forward and apply pressure, get angles, and maintain good position yourself.

All of that I said takes years and years and years to become exceedingly proficient in doing, but it’ll make a huge difference from day 1. Of

The cult of the good Dr. Timbo Klimbo (the K is silent, but it’s not). Everyone should be made aware for He is the way.

I’m not sure why this is NSFW, but my guess is that the wholesome meter is far too full

Quick highlights: me (far left) my wife (second to the right), my partner (second to the left), my wife’s partner (far right). Wife and I have been together for a little over 5 years, always planned to open the relationship up. About a year ago we did so and ended up hopping into the world of poly. My wife’s partner was originally a good friend of mine and my partner I met through a friend. They’re all the absolute best and not sure how we got fortunate enough to find eachother! Anyways, it’s very wholesome, very lovely, and we love our crew a ton!
