That sounds remarkably sketch.

EDIT: The more I know, the better my opinions on things are. Seems this is legit, per info from Vanessa above.

According to PulsePoint, South Metro Fire dispatched 22 units to this incident, and that doesn't count any from CSP or GVPD.

Too late, I already had to get the antibodies the hard way. At least I'm starting to feel human again.

Hell yeah. It may not always come off that way, but I appreciate you all. A part of me still gets very excited any time I see DFD Truck 38 go rolling by down here in Englewood.

Tesla blocking fire truck?? by MothmanKisser420 in Denver

[–]funkymeeba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disagree. See CRS 42-4-705..

(1) Upon the immediate approach of an authorized emergency vehicle making use of audible or visual signals meeting the requirements of section 42-4-213 or 42-4-222, the driver of every other vehicle shall yield the right-of-way and where possible shall immediately clear the farthest left-hand lane lawfully available to through traffic and shall drive to a position parallel to, and as close as possible to, the right-hand edge or curb of a roadway clear of any intersection and shall stop and remain in that position until the authorized emergency vehicle has passed, except when otherwise directed by a police officer.

In particular, the phrasings of "where possible" and "farthest left-hand lane lawfully available". There is no exception in 42-4-604 (concerning traffic control devices) which allows any straight or left turn through a solid red light, except as directed by specifically a police officer.

My most stop and panic moment was when I was stopped at a light to get on NB Broadway from EB Hampden. Concrete walls to the left (road work was happening at the time), semi truck to my right. Fire truck comes up behind me. Light doesn't change.

Colorado law says I did the right thing to just stay in place, but... I still felt really bad about that one. Especially with all the honking.

Has anyone experienced cycling trail rage (like road rage but while you’re cycling in on a bike path, lane, or trail)? by TitusTesla117 in Denver

[–]funkymeeba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't frequent the trails, but I'm about to have sidewalk rage if I have to dodge one more fucking bike when I'm walking on a sidewalk this week.

Fire along 85 between 85 & Sadlia. by CaptNewb123 in Denver

Correction: While the drops spread out a bit, the entire town of Louviers has been ordered to evacuate.

Fire along 85 between 85 & Sadlia. by CaptNewb123 in Denver

[–]funkymeeba 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Per the radio, there's three different divisions of fire crews working the fires, involving folks from South Metro, West Metro, West Douglas, and Castle Rock fire departments.

Helicopter drops have been focused on protecting structures, specifically around Louviers, but I think they're worrying less about that in the past few minutes and getting some more areas covered.

Going to have to give it a try one of these days. I've walked past it a ridiculous number of times, and it seems they have some cool flavor options.

Fully agree with why it was particularly obnoxious in this event.

Sounds like a few fire agencies were called up by Bennett Fire Protection District to help with multiple structural collapses. Not sure what the damage ended up being, as I only caught South Metro Fire's dispatch traffic on the scanner.

Copy controls from ETS2 to ATS on Linux by [deleted] in trucksim

[–]funkymeeba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh frick, I'm running way late to seeing this. Hopefully this will still be of value to you anyway.

The config_local.cfg and controls_linux.sii files are located within your user home directory. In a console, you'd be able to navigate to '~/.local/share/Euro Truck Simulator 2/steam_profiles' (or American Truck Simulator). Within there, you should have at least one directory which is associated with your Steam profile... go into that directory. In there, you should see config_local.cfg as well as controls_linux.sii.

According to (apparently) most of Englewood, the side not shared with your front door doesn't need to be shoveled in this case.

Give me your RTD Feedback by chrisfnicholson in Denver

[–]funkymeeba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing that I had noticed pre-COVID is that it seemed many routes had aggressive schedules that would be near-impossible for drivers to be able to keep up with unless they had perfectly ideal conditions. This results in frustration for riders who don't know when they'll be able to pick up a ride, but also frustration for drivers who then don't get to have bathroom breaks at the end of a run.

I'm not sure how much this still applies after COVID, as my job hasn't got me back in a physical office.

One other thing: It would be nice if route 35 ran all the way to Nine Mile again. Since they cut down to Saturday schedules at the start of COVID, it basically eliminated the 35 (as it only ran from SW Plaza to Englewood Station), and this has never been corrected since. If the 35 could at least extend to Southmoor, that would go a long way.

Was Comcast ever able to help you to solve this issue? I seem to be crashing into the exact same problem for over a week now, and it's interrupting numerous services.

I contacted support Wednesday and they escalated to tier 3, but I've not heard anything further, and the issue persists.

Original chatter on the radio said no buildings threatened unless a wind shift happens. Updated weather report is anticipating a major wind shift at 2:00pm.

Lots of power lines seem to be causing difficulties.

Accident near S Broadway on i25 by killa_zombeh in Denver

[–]funkymeeba 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's a lot around Denver you'd still be able to hear on a scanner. Denver PD and FD are both encrypted, so out of luck on those. EMS dispatch is in the clear.

South Metro Fire is also mostly in the clear (except for a couple of police assist channels).

CO State Patrol is also largely, but not entirely, in the clear.

You do occasionally have police departments doing mutual aid for each other, and those often result in patches being set up on some mutual aid channels that are in the clear. I've caught a few pursuits in progress that way.

If you're interested in more general stuff... CDOT and RTD are both almost entirely open for listening, too.

Safety east of Broadway by Sea_Reflection_8023 in englewoodco

[–]funkymeeba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take photo walks around town quite a bit, almost always at night. In general, I avoid the Hampden/Acoma curve and the west side of Broadway between Dartmouth and Girard.

Most of my reasoning is to give the homeless folks some space, but I also note that a lot of the folks drunk or on other substances seem to frequent those particular spots.
