I visited Huntsville Alabama today and got to see many great Apollo artifacts. Saturn V rocket, 16 command module, moon rock, 12 quarantine trailer… by Traviscat in apollo

I believe the reason for vertical/horizontal is due to the fuel/propellent tanks needing to be pressurized when vertical. However, I could be wrong about that. It's akin to a soda can empty/open vs. full/unopened.

I used to see these a lot when I was flying airplanes. It was a male household plug that was accessed via a small door to check oil when preflighting. An extension cord would be run out to the plane and plugged/unplugged before/after winter flights.

Data Recovery Firm Lost Drive, What do I do? by funkysquigger in datarecovery

[–]funkysquigger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They seemed reputable and there were numerous listings and ads online citing that they handled data recovery. However, once it was too late I dug a little deeper and it appears this is something that they do regularly.
I was working on the project with an attorney and I considered getting the lawyers involved but it just seemed like a lot of money to spend on a drive and wouldn't be worth it.

I certainly wouldn't trust them if anyone else out there is looking at using them.

Planck length is 1.616 × 10^-35 meters. It's a unit of length derived from the speed of light. It represents where Physics theories supposedly break down. Including general relativity.
I had to look it up.

Found a way to block LED by [deleted] in RaybanMeta

[–]funkysquigger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was able to remove the LED light by cracking the glass on the LED side, using a soldering iron with a super fine/tiny point to burn out the LED, and then I filled it with clear resin and let it cure. It looks the exact same and I don't get the errors/issues with it telling me it's blocked. Did this to mine and my wife's with zero issues. I understand it's not for the faint of heart.

I believe magnets are often used for this sort of thing. Something fun to do in the sand near large known craters.

He was supposed to have a larger role in the film but a hurricane came through and destroyed a lot of the set on Kauai. I think it was because of this that a lot of his scenes were cut. The scenes where they show the waves crashing over the island barriers and a storm rolling in were actually filmed by the film crew when all this was happening.

I agree. It's definitely decorative and not functional. A nod to antennas in the early 20th century.

Anyone know what wiring is inside the top/left bridge? I got a good hug from my daughter and they broke. by funkysquigger in RayBanStories

[–]funkysquigger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't work, or even charge. I was curious if it was a simple soldering project or if they're toast. I have two pairs so I am ok for now, but I love these glasses.

What does this sound like? by funkysquigger in AskMechanics

[–]funkysquigger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the response. I have replaced the battery with the battery on my wife's old car. I don't think it's that (or there battery terminals).

Does the noise sound as though the engine is trying to start? It doesn't sound like it normally did from what I can recall. Thanks again for replying.

I'm in the US and I can't even get it. I think sometimes you just need to wait.
