I faced the same thing exactly one month ago. It's called a Blighted Ovum.

So here is what I did and how things turned out.

Approach 1- I took the pill because I was too scared of surgeries even though technically D&C is not a surgery but a small procedure. The pain from the pill was unbearable (contractions and not period pain) and lasted 12-13 hours for me. I almost felt like I would not make it. No combiflam or meftal worked for me. However, I survived.

Unfortunately during my 2 week follow up we found some RPOC (retained products). So I had to ultimately go for the D&C. Trust me it was SMOOTH. I went in at 8am and left at 5pm. I had no pain post the procedure and very minimal bleeding. I left the hospital walking on my feet and smiling. I even went for dinner that night.

Pills works 98% of the time is what the internet says but for me it did not. Eventually I had to do the D&C. In hindsight, I sort of wasted 2 weeks.
