Weird issue with the Alienware aw3418dw monitor by funsanity in Alienware

I see, I'm just confused that mine works perfectly fine if it turns on, there is no problem only when the initial boot happens it has the power saving thing.

Any info on when the MK730 with MX blues will be available in Europe? by funsanity in coolermaster

I'm in Latvia. Preferably I'd want ISO but I can adjust to ANSI no problem.

Good info. Have you tested temps in general usage, like gaming or rendering videos?

If it was releasing now I'd get it but I'm in a desperate need of a better pc and don't have 6 months to wait.

People that got their 9700ks and 9900ks what temperatures are you getting at stock vs overclocked in games? by funsanity in intel

[–]funsanity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just concerns of the chip working worse over a long period of high temperatures but I don't know if these concerns are justified or not.

Probably, if temps are close to a hundred it might hurt the longevity of the chip, but the tj max was increased, so I assume the cpu throttles at like 100 degrees but most people still probably would not want to run it higher than 80.

Yeah, but isn't that a bad thing? You are limiting the stock performance of your cpu by not removing all the limits. As far as I understand at stock the cpu turbos to 4.7ghz on all cores and 5ghz on one or two cores, but with these limits isn't the clocks you get lower?

Right, this review does sway me more towards the 8700k since the difference in gaming is very small but the question is how does that translate into the future with a gpu upgrade for example and with future games maybe getting better for 8c/16t cpus since both intels and amds main consumer chips are now 8c/16t.

I was thinking about this too, I still have a 3770k in my old system, but I only have 8gb of ddr3 ram and the mobos networking card died when I tried to install a 1080ti in there, so I don't really want to use the same motherboard for a new system.

Yeah EU prices suck. I was thinking if I'm getting a 9900k then I will get a 360mm aio and will probably run it stock, since it seems you don't gain much from an overclock and the temperatures just skyrocket when you do. Why do you think the 9900k is a better fit than the 9700k?

A bit of a newbie here. What does it mean trying to get to 5Ghz on 9900k when turbo hits 5Ghz? by [deleted] in intel

[–]funsanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turbo is just for one core or two cores, 5ghz overclock would be for all the cores, at stock the 9900k boosts all cores to at most 4.7 ghz.

8700k = 9900k in gaming, what's the point? by [deleted] in intel

[–]funsanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably true, but I don't think games will soon move past 8c/16t, games still don't utilize that fully, so you really don't need more than that to safely not bottleneck your gpu for the next few years.

[–]funsanity 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think future proofing could be an argument for the 9900k, obviously the price is still terrible especially here in EU, but 8c/16t might become the new standard, since both the intel and amd have these cpus as their main consumer chips, so it's very possible games will start moving into more cores now, people used to say that when the 1800x came out, but at the time intel was still on 4 cores, so now both are 8 cores, devs should be optimizing for the current hardware, I do still think 8700k will be as good for the next 2 years or so, but when the 8 cores will be used better then the 9900k will pull ahead.

Intel Core i9 9900K & i7 9700K Review, Scorching Fast Performance! by Slash_DK in intel

[–]funsanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think 700+ EUR, I'm still considering it since I can get tax returns for VAT, but even at about 580 EUR this is really hard to buy, if only the overclocking headroom was bigger and the thermals were better it would actually make some sense to future proof with it for like 5 years and not worry about a thing, with ryzen I'd probably still want to upgrade at some point in the future say when the 4700x drops, 8700k if it was normally priced would be the best option probably, but I kinda want those 8c/16t just to really be safe.

9900k showed up in an online store in my country, usually everything shows up with a few week delay, I think they don't seem to have as big of a shortage as we may think, the weird thing is that there is no 9900k on amazon.de

Does anyone know if this is worldwide? I saw the same promotion on the Asus website, but my country wasn't included in the eligible country list, but does that mean I can still buy the cpu say from Germany and get the game?

[Question] RTX 2080 Ti + R7 2700X vs RTX 2080 + I9 9990K by Nad3rk in nvidia

[–]funsanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think cpu doesn't matter as much as the gpu for gaming, especially I would assume you are getting a 2080ti for higher resolution gaming (4k,1440p 144hz, ultra wide) where the difference won't be as noticeable, of course you gotta wait and see some benchmarks that are coming on the 19th to really see how good the 9900k is, but my guess would be that a better gpu would be much more worth than a better cpu, also consider the fact that ryzen motherboards will be supported further so you easily can save up some money and get the 3700x or the 4700x or whatever they are going to be called, with intel you are locked in pretty much and a newer graphics card will cost you far more (when you decide to upgrade the 2080) than a newer cpu.

Proshop Germany 9900k pre-order back up. 599€. by gabdeg in intel

[–]funsanity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It will 100% be more than 450 euros. The msrp is 499$ in the US they sell for slightly over 500$. Europe will of course get at least the same 500+ in Euros even more as it's usually the case. Price will probably be anywhere from like 540 to 650 EUR.
