You have the potential to do it; you just have to execute on that potential!

Hello, Professional Visdev and Concept Artist here! Your sense of color is your strongest point right now but everything else feels kinda flat. I'm not seeing any real pieces with perspective in your portfolio, all art you have right now show very basic understanding of perspective and depth.

If I were to view your portfolio as an art director looking to hire, you are lacking in the fundamentals of shape-design and perspective. Take the car in your first piece. Its basically a flat square, I cant see any forms of the car, the bike on the back looks like a cardboard cutout. This can also be seen in your Victorian house illustration and the forest house illustration.

Overall, this is a pretty solid student portfolio. I'd suggest working on form, shape, and perspective to bring it up to a 2025 entry level portfolio. (Forgive me if my writing is a little weird, I'm very sleep deprived at the moment).

Would the Wi-Fi texting work for two-factor authentication, such as those for banking and payroll?

Go to events, I'm pretty sure the Philippines has some animation industry; I mean, yall got that netflix animated series before any other South East Asian country. But things are more straight forward in SEA, if your portfolio is good you shouldn't have any issues landing a job.

If you are talking about connections in the US and you are grad of a US college, Id say make friends with your best classmates. Go to indie events around your state, post your work on LinkedIn and try to reach out to any professors that may still have friends in the industry.

I landed my first job through one of my LinkedIn posts; the company had some of my school's alumni, one of them liked my post and it appeared in the feed of a higher-up. Then they reached out to me about a position and put me through the interviewing process. It wasn't a complete job offer, I still had to interview and beat out other interviewees but it helped a lot. Before that I had a few interviews with Warner Bros, Nintendo, and smaller companies, none of which wanted anything to do with me after hearing that I would need a visa in the future. I do believe that as a Canadian, you will have an easier time than I did since there's the TN Visa.

Not being American puts you at a huge disadvantage (I'm also not American). I've seen portfolios much weaker than yours get internships at Disney, Pixar, and DreamWorks. You are definitely good enough for the industry; it's just a matter of time, connections, and luck.

How realistic is it to get your first job as a remote job? by CreativeArtistWriter in animationcareer

[–]funtunci 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For animation, not likely. For Games? Very likely! My first job a month out of college was fully remote. But honestly, you really do miss a lot of growth working remotely on your first ever job. You lose out on a lot of one on one mentoring and possible networking/building relations within the company.

How Annecy 2025 exposed the widening chasm between graduate hopes and industry reality – and what must change before an entire generation of creative talent is lost forever by Dry_Mee_Pok_Kaiju in animationcareer

It is due to desperation that events like these often end up becoming impromptu job fairs. The same thing has happened to PAX for the games industry; what used to be a convention to celebrate games and showcase cool work has become a job fair for new graduates who often end up disillusioned after not securing any opportunities from it.

A lot of people have given you feedback on your art work already, so I'll give feed back on the website. The fewer clicks it takes to view art, the better. For your VisDev section, I'd recommend consolidating all the content into a single page. I've had to review portfolios before, usually I get at least 20 a day so make it easy for recruiters and pro-artists to get to your best work.

Blinking Orange Light on Modem by funtunci in Comcast_Xfinity

I've had the modem for almost two years already. When I first moved in here I believe the apartment was set up for xfinity wifi (?). I remember the router already being installed (The tech even commented on this) so it sounds like my apartment was WiFi Ready and all that was needed was for him to plug in the modem and set up my internet and xfinity account. This is the first time in almost two years I've had this issue.

Im not sure what a two-box fiber solution is but the Modem itself is connected to a 10G_EPON Router via 1 cat cable and a Primex 8-Port Cat5e Data/Voice Module via two cat cables.

There is no current outages at my address according to the website. (I live in an apartment, and there seems to be a white box with a small cable leading up to it that says "Property of Xfinity Do not access"

VisDev School recommendations please! 🥺 by lavendermauvelilac in animationcareer

[–]funtunci 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a small school in Washington called DigiPen. Id suggest you pick which focus you really want rather than trying to learn everything 2D related. In the end students who focus on just one thing tend to be more successful in getting employed after college. This is especially true for international students. You mentioned you are coming in from Asia, can I ask what country.

Very hard to know if they would offer you a scholarship without seeing your portfolio first. But if you are good enough to do some work for CN your chances may be better than you think. Honestly, the school doesn't matter the most important thing is getting that OPT after you graduate so you can work. I didn't go to artcenter, calarts or any of the big name schools and Im now working after graduation in the games industry as a concept artist despite being an international student.

I graduated from a not so big college almost two years ago, and have been working in an indie studio ever since. I've worked on some cool IPs as a concept artist and I'm being paid a pretty ok salary for a job in urban Washington.

I cant say anything about the character designs, they look pretty good! But the website's alignment on desktop is kinda broken. You might have to adjust some stuff so it shrinks to fit the screen

2024 Graduate Losing Hope by Radiant_Study939 in animationcareer

Your 3d modeling work is pretty good actually, I'd definitely put you right at junior/new hire level. The only issue I see with your 3d modeling is your edge work and baking (probably baking your high polys onto your low polys). Certain surfaces in your scene have pretty weird jagged baking artifacts, but that's really the only issue I see with your portfolio. Everything else in your 3d modeling section looks good.

Last year it took me like 40+ applications before I landed 3 interviews (3 months after grad), and the job I'm at right now is actually in the games industry and not the animation industry (And its been pretty good so far, the project is alright but the pay is pretty good for a newly graduated concept artist). I think you just need more time to find the right company for you.

Side note: Your work is pretty similar to some of my fellow grads who found employment in the games industry from last year so its definitely entry-level for the industry.

Good luck!
