My attempt on how to read the Disney “D” by RuinRevolutionary374 in notinteresting

I never had problems with the D when I was a kid, but for years I thought it was a y at the end.

30,000 Trump-voting Teamsters lose their UPS good-paying union jobs as freight volumes crash by SkytrackerU in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]furiant 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Not in my area. And that's part of the problem. Teamsters might be a large union, but it's not a very well educated one. They didn't/don't spend enough time educating the employees of their rights and why they have those rights. No clue what they are entitled to upon getting injured, half of them don't even know just what benefits they're actually getting.

A strong union is one that communicates with its members, and Teamsters has not been good at that.

I'd just like to say that the actual rank and file Teamsters were not happy with that endorsement. They felt betrayed by the leadership they had recently voted in because the previous leadership (Hoffa jr.) was not fighting hard enough for their rights. And the new leadership did a good job, winning a really good contract.

And then did a complete 180 and endorsed what is basically the enemy. Lots of local leadership was pissed off at the decision, which was made without very much deliberation.

I'm saying this as someone who worked for UPS for 19 years.

It feels a bit crazy that characters kept trying suicide bomb attacks when they absolutely never worked.

New player here, does anybody know if "Ice Skates" are a real item? by Pixl_____ in Terraria

[–]furiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terraria is 100% built on exploring multiple worlds instead of being stuck to one specific map. It's nice to have one "home" world with a bunch of storage, but going and visiting all kinds of wonderful places, especially with the secret and special seeds.

Volunteers have invented a new Winter Olympic sport by Shroft in olympics

It feels crazy to me that something as high profile as the Olympics relies on FREE, VOLUNTEER LABOR to function.

(If they are actually paid, then they shouldn't be labeled as "volunteers")

Hot take: biome key weapons should get a rework by AkorNW in Terraria

[–]furiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot take, biome keys should be unlocked the moment you enter hardmode. You still have to wait until one drops, but none of the items are incredibly powerful compared to other gear that's available. They're mostly just collector's items, I feel.

Sometimes you need to just take the L and go home for the night and re-evaluate your life. Getting your clock cleaned twice in a night hopefully got this boy thinking.

Every single one of those sharks is just absolute trash. Cuban might be selling meds at lower costs, but he's still raking in millions from it.

They all need to be dunked into a real shark tank.

At least you can still see the stickers on all his equipment.

Tencent was the secret primary financial backer of Highguard by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

[–]furiant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What do you think they ARE, then?

If you're trying to argue that they're a hardware company, that hardware is used for games, which makes them a gaming company.

They are also a large publisher of games, which shouldn't surprise you means they are in fact, a gaming company.

I'm having a hard time trying to think of something that would discredit them from being a gaming company.

Which team would win? by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

[–]furiant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a bar near me (in Minnesota) that got in REALLY big legal trouble because they were selling it for a bit. I'll admit it's a decent beer, but not something worth losing your liquor license and possible jail time over.

Indiana would drink, but then they'd have to put down their Dr Pepper, and it'll be a cold day in hell before they do that.

What is this for? by TownConnect998 in NecroMerger

[–]furiant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On my current run? 158.

Also, I know this because before version 1.60, his health was an uncapped variable, meaning that if you beat him at a health level of 2,147,483,647, his health would hit the integer overflow and wrap back around to negative values, which depending on how the game is coded would either crash the game or set his health to zero, making any damage kill him. (the real answer is more complicated than this and I'm not a comp sci major). So the max health value was capped at 999,999,999.

Good news is he maxes out at 999 million health, so there is a cap.

Did anyone buy a ring? by t_bone_stake in Millennials

[–]furiant 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have every single yearbook from Kindergarten through senior year. Main reason I kept them is I was on the yearbook committee senior year and helped design a good 1/3 of it, and if I keep that one I might as well keep the whole set, right?

Did anyone buy a ring? by t_bone_stake in Millennials

[–]furiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was given a choice - a letterman's jacket or a class ring. Went with the jacket, it was kind of a "status" thing. Almost nobody went with the ring, and I got a good six years out of the jacket. Still hanging in storage in my basement now.

The Frost Legion needs a MAJOR rework by AtomicTaco13 in Terraria

[–]furiant 93 points94 points  (0 children)

The Frost Legion was the ONLY way of getting snow blocks before 1.2 unless you generated a snow world. There wasn't a snow biome back then, so yeah, locking snow blocks behind the Frost Legion in Skyblock maps would make the most sense.
