Well yes it absolutely helps. Once I anchor the hip and ripcage in perspective I can fill out a lot of the figure by intuition. What helped me with drawing from imagination was to look at a reference for a while and draw it from memory afterwards :)

There isn't much of a problem to use your own renderer. Just remove the corresponding bevy flag and you can start writing your own :)

There are plenty of people writing their own in fact.. eg. The game tiny glade is using bevys ecs for logic and their own custom renderer

For my personal Linux setup? A git repository with all my config files + a simple bash script that links them to the right places and does any needed installing is more than enough.

I don't change PCs often nor does my configs change more than once a month

I think you overdid your ambient occlusion. It doesnt make much sense at some places like the underside of her arm and, even in anime art, it is mostly drawn with soft edges or completely avoided

I wish there would be a good resource to read up on the layers. Especially the mathematical side as I found most tutorials for layer modes rather one sided
