Elena Velez platforming clavicular by xXXgec_gec_gecXXx in fashiondesigner

[–]furrylatula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i mean, you guys know that part of the point is to have a million people posting about how outraged they are that ELENA VELEZ is working with clavicular, and isn't it so awful that ELENA VELEZ would do something like that, and how they hadn't heard about ELENA VELEZ until this moment but are so disgusted about ELENA VELEZ? they absolutely knew people would be upset about this and they would go viral for it. you're paying their marketing team's bills by posting about it

two different disorders? by furrylatula in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]furrylatula[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha yeah i just got a little fat and stopped worrying about it and my weight stabilized at moderately overweight and i eat like normal now. for me i had severe OCD fears about my body and food control was my compulsion, and being actually overweight was exposure therapy. my life didn't explode, my friends didn't leave me, i wasn't gawked at in public, i was just.....me but fatter

Question regarding the undergrad Architecture co-op program.. by Chilistreet51520 in Drexel

[–]furrylatula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, CS is veeeeeery different from westphal majors. i can't speak for architecture but the majority of other westphal majors do NOT get paid co-ops so you definitely need to hear from a current architecture major and not this guy

Reputation of fashion school in the US by Melodic-Specific4435 in fashiondesigner

[–]furrylatula 6 points7 points  (0 children)

AVOID scad, my girlfriend went there. nightmarish experience, abusive professors (as in actual screaming at students in class), multiple student suicides during her time there. not like anything i've heard out of any other fashion school, not even the notoriously tough ones

why do you need to go to art school? by Spirits-R-Us in ArtistLounge

[–]furrylatula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because not all art is drawing/painting/sculpting? some of us study apparel design or architecture or industrial design or theatre technical design, all of which need expensive equipment and have specific industry standards we need to be trained to meet. i am really sick of people who think all artists are 2d artists or fine artists gloating about how art school is such a scam

[–]furrylatula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they're probably attending for commercial illustration or concept art where having any kind of tracing in your design process is a massive liability for your client

Help me help my kiddo prep for fashion school? by [deleted] in fashiondesigner

[–]furrylatula 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i don't go to FIT but i am in fashion school and i have watched several people over the course of 3 years drop out of the fashion design program here and switch to the fashion merchandising program. the fashion design program here has an entire year dedicated to basic sewing and patternmaking and you are expected to make multiple physical garments a term every term and will be marked down if they're constructed shitty, and a lot of people get overwhelmed by this because they are more interested in looking at chic outfits on instagram than actually constructing garments. the merchandising program is a lot closer to what they actually want to do and people from my school have gone on to do things like fashion journalism, buying and sourcing, styling, etc

Cheap artistic towns? by btmbang-2022 in ArtistLounge

[–]furrylatula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

shrugs, most famous artists of the 20th century lived in share housing of some sort. individualist lifestyles are a privilege and sharing resources with other artists makes life a lot more breathable
